The biggest betting favorite at UFC Fight Night 151, bantamweight Macy Chiasson (5-0, 3-0 UFC) remained unbeaten as she pummeled Sarah Moras (5-5, 2-4 UFC). Referee Yves Lavigne was forced to call a stop to the contest at 2:22 of the second round, as Chiasson unleashed vicious ground-and-pound to thwart the Canadian's hopes of victory. Although Moras scored a takedown within five seconds of the first round and controlled Chiasson for the majority of that round, the same could not be the said for round two.

Moras' early second-round takedown attempt backfired, and she landed on her back, where she was subjected to a barrage of strikes until she could no longer intelligently defend herself. The loss was Moras' first by stoppage, extending her losing streak to three straight.

Morales Edges Canadian Prospect Zahabi

Vince Morales (9-3, 1-1 UFC) outdueled Canadian native Aiemann Zahabi (7-2, 1-2 UFC) in a tactical performance where the two utilized footwork and head movement to largely stay out of harm's way.

Morales landed the better strikes on the feet, but the first two rounds remained close. Zahabi landed a spinning elbow early in the third round that motivated Morales, and the Idaho-based fighter took control of the remainder of their encounter with effective striking and counters. After the final bell sounded, all three judges scored the contest 29-28 in favor of Morales, who earned his first win inside the Octagon.

Taleb Impressive in Victory

Welterweight Nordine Taleb (15-6, 7-4 UFC) battered UFC newcomer Kyle Prepolec (12-6, 0-1 UFC) with kicks across three rounds, targeting his opponent's head, body and legs indiscriminately.

Prepolec was unable to mount any substantial offense against his prey, as Taleb scored a clear-cut unanimous decision over his tough but ultimately outgunned adversary. As the third round came to close, Taleb nearly scored a knockdown with audibly-loud leg kicks, but Prepolec survived to the final bell.

Taleb had to settle for a decision win, as he prevailed with 30-27 scores across the board.

Sayles Settles Back-and-Forth Clash Late

A back-and-forth battle ended in the third round via arm-triangle choke, as Matt Sayles (8-2, 1-1 UFC) survived a rough second stanza to tap out Canada's Kyle Nelson (12-3, 0-2 UFC).

Sayles was in control early, dominating the first round and bloodying up his foe. Nelson came back in the second and nearly submitted Sayles with a rear-naked choke. Sayles rebounded in the third to capitalize on a failed takedown attempt to take mount. From there, the American jumped to side control and sunk an arm-triangle choke, coaxing the tap and forcing referee Todd Anderson to call a stop to the contest at 3:16 of the third frame.

In doing so, Sayles earned the first submission victory of his career.

Bhullar Grinds Out Adams, Calls Out Former Champ

Indo-Canadian heavyweight wrestler Arjan Singh Bhullar (9-1, 3-1 UFC) scored a tough decision win over formerly-unbeaten heavyweight Juan Adams (5-1, 1-1 UFC).

Bhullar pressed the pace and engaged the clinch often, taking the Houston native to the scorecards for the first time in his short career. Although Adams utilized his significant reach advantage to keep Bhullar at bay for the earlier portions of the fight and outlanded his foe, Bhullar's clinch work and multiple takedowns made the difference.

Bhullar landed one takedown in each of the second and third rounds, and maintained top control for good portions of those rounds. The judges ultimately scored the bout 29-28, 29-28 and 30-27 unanimously for Bhullar, who used the opportunity to call out Andrei Arlovski.

Smith Tops Gagnon in Octagon Debut

UFC debutant Cole Smith remained undefeated when he topped longtime UFC veteran Mitch Gagnon by decision. Smith walked out to the "Pride Theme" by Yasuharu Takanashi, and represented that music well with constant aggression, submission attempts and takedowns to stifle his fellow Canadian.

Gagnon was returning from a nearly two-and-a-half-year layoff, and despite a thrilling third round where he had Smith hurt badly and chained submissions including a tight armbar and an omoplata attempt, he could not finish his unbeaten opponent. Smith survived the attempt and put his foe in danger, threatening with a rear-naked choke that ejected the Sudbury, Ontario, native's mouthpiece.

Gagnon toughed out the round, but it was not enough to take the decision, as the judges scored the contest 29-28, 29-28 and 30-27, all in favor of Smith. Advertisement
