Ward last appeared at Bellator 182 on Aug. 25, 2017, when he suffered a third-round submission defeat to Fernando Gonzalez. The Waterford, Conn., native had lost three of his last four Bellator MMA appearances.
Ward leaves the sport with a 14-6 career mark. He went 9-6 with Bellator, posting notable wins over Curtis Millender and Saad Awad and serving as a staple on cards when the promotion held events in Connecticut. All but one of Ward’s 14 triumphs came by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
Bellator 207 takes place on Oct. 12 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and is headlined by a heavyweight grand prix semifinal clash between Matt Mitrione and Ryan Bader.
