Abdul Razak Alhassan vs. Charlie Ward

Round 1

The welterweights touch gloves and we’re underway. Alhassan throws a big overhand right and then drops Ward with an uppercut on the chin. Ward is back up and both men are swinging wildly. Alhassan eats some shots in a wild exchange, and then the Ghana native drops Ward again with a right hook. The Irishman falls face first. Ward works his way back up and Alhassan resumes his assault. A right hook behind the ear connects and Ward falls into the fence. Referee Marc Goddard has seen enough and steps in to wave off the contest, giving Alhassan a victory in his Octagon debut.

Brett Johns vs. Kwan Ho Kwak

Round 1

Kwak fires off a couple low kicks to begin the contest, then connects with a straight right hand. Kwak is mixing in low kicks and more right hands. John shoots in for a single leg and gets Kwak down near the fence. Kwak gets up but “The Pikey” slams his man right back down. The process repeats itself again, as Kwak continues to scramble back up after being slammed down. Johns remains relentless in his pursuit of the takedown, mixing in short right hands against the fence. With two minutes to go, Kwak is expending energy defending repeated takedowns and gettting back to his feet. Johns connects his hands, picks Kwak up for a more emphatic slam. Johns passes to side control and pins his opponent’s arm down. Unofficially, that’s six takedowns already for Johns. Kwak attempts to use his legs to push off the fence, but Johns maintains control. The Welshman works from side control, maintaining a cross face while dropping short punches.

Round 2

Johns rocks Kwak with a right uppercut and he looks to capitalize as he attacks with more powerful blows. Johns lands a right hand clean on the chin and then drives Kwak into the fence. Johns gets his man down and lands in Kwak’s full guard. The South Korean scoots toward the fence and stands. Kwak is holding his hands low as he throws punches. Johns catches Kwak with a left hook, then a straight right hand. “The Pickey” lands a jumping knee to the chin, but Kwak stays upright. Johns fakes a level change and lands an uppercut. Kwak steps in with a knee to the face. Johns tags Kwak with a three-ounch combination. Kwak lands a kick to the body. He goes to the well again, but Johns catches the kick and lands a takedown. Johns works from half guard now, landing short punches and elbows as the round winds down. The frame ends with Johns in top position.

Round 3

Johns throws a big left hook to begin the round. Kwak answers with a switch knee. Johns is moving backward and Kwak marches forward with punches. Johns urges his foe on. Kwak continues landing punches in combination. Johns responds with a beautifully timed takedown. The Wales native is in full guard now, staying busy with punches and elbows. Kwak doesn’t appear to have the energy to get to his feet, as Johns continues to pepper the South Korean with punches to the body and head. Referee Rich Mitchell urges Johns to work, and “The Pikey” passes to half guard. Kwak quickly recovers full guard, but Kwak is able to get to his feet. Johns keeps the pressure on. Kwak tries to take his foe’s back, but Johns turns out of danger and drives for another takedown attempt against the fence. Johns gets in on a double leg, picks Kwak up and slams him down. Kwak is quickly back up, but his back is to the fence. Kwak turns and unloads with punches, elbows and hooks to Johns’ head. Johns keeps his guard up as an exhausted Kwak empties his clip until the horn sounds.

Milana Dudieva vs. Marion Reneau

Round 1

Reneau takes the center of the catch and begins probing with her jab. Reneau pumps her left hand twice, keeping Dudieva on the defensive. Another jab from Reneau finds its mark. Again, a double jab from Reneau connects. Dudieva is utilizing decent head movement but hasn’t done much outside of a couple leg kicks. Reneau lands a push kick to the face, but Dudieva catches it. Reneau limp legs out of the position. Dudieva catches another Reneau kick and gets her foe down. Reneau transitions to an armbar, but the Russian gets out of danger and settles into guard. Reneau’s guard is active, and Dudieva gives up on the position. They’re standing again and Reneau pushes forward with her jab once again. Reneau controls the distance with her jab, but neither fighter lands much of significance over the final minute.

Round 2

Reneau gets back to work with her jab. “The Belizean Bruiser” finally lands a right hand behind her jab as she backs Dudieva into the fence. Reneau lands a one-two and then ties up with the Russian. Reneau tries to work her way to the back, but Dudieva escapes and tosses her opponent to the canvas. Reneau sits up against the fence and works her way back up. Dudieva maintains the pressure in the clinch as she lands short knees and hunts for trips. Reneau turns and lands several short elbows to the head of her adversary. Reneau hurts Dudieva with a knee to the gut. Reneau is opening up now, mixing in knees to the body and elbows to the head. Dudieva is a sitting duck against the fence as Reneau tees off in the clinch. Reneau is mixing in hooks, knees and elbows now. Dudieva slumps agains the fence as the horn sounds.

Round 3

Reneau presses the action with her jab once again. Reneau fires off a low kick to Dudieva’s lead leg. Reneau backs Dudieva toward the fence, lands a flurry of punches and forces the clinch. Reneau gets an underhook and keeps pressure on with her head as she lands a knee. Reneau yanks Dudieva to the canvas from back control and lands directly in mount. She postures up and lands punches as she pins Dudieva’s hand down. Reneau maintains patience from the dominant position, measuring her punches while controlling her opponent’s wrists. Reneau switches to elbows and unloads with five to six unanswered shots. Mercifully, referee Grant Waterman steps in to halt the contest.

Zak Cummings vs. Alexander Yakovlev

Round 1

Cummings takes the center of the cage and checks an inside low kick by Yakovlev. Yakovlev stays on the outside throwing the occasional leg kick. An incidental eye poke by Yakovlev leads to a pause in the action. The action resumes and Cummings walks through some low kicks and hunts for an overhand left. Yakovlev catches a kick and shoves Cummings down. He can’t keep the American down, however. Cummings is up and continues to stalk Yakovlev. Cummings counters an inside low kick with a jab. Yakovlev is warned to keep his fingers in tight. Cummings catches a kick and lands a left hand. The American forces the clinch and lands some hammerfists to the body. Yakovlev gets off the fence and shoves Cummings away. Yakovlev tags Cummings with a two-punch combination. Cummings is undeterred. The welterweights tie up and Cummings backs Yakovlev into the fence, landing short knees. Yakovlev breaks away and lands a couple more low kicks. Cummings lands a powerful rear kick to the body just before the horn sounds.

Round 2

Cummings buckles Yakovlev with a powerful low kick to the back of the knee. Yakovlev gets up and Cummings continues his pressure, attempting to cut off the Octagon. They tie up and Cummings pushes his foe into the fence. Cummings lands a left hand on the break. Cummings lands a combination. The American catches a kick to the body and fires off an overhand left, but it doesn’t find the mark. Yakovlev has been able to dodge the majority of Cummings’ punches, but it is Cummings who is pressing the action. Yakovlev changes levels for a takedown but Cummings sprawls and shucks Yakovlev aside. Cummings takes top position, steps over into a reverse triangle and isolates his foe’s arm. Cummings extends the arm, and Yakovlev has no choice but to tap out.

Mark Godbeer vs. Justin Ledet

Round 1

Godbeer lands an outside and inside leg kick to begin the action. Ledet lands a jab and then follows up with a clean left hook when Godbeer rushes in. Leded lands some punches upstairs then changes levels for a takedown against the fence. He gets it and settles in the Englishman’s guard. Godbeer uses his guard to push Ledet away and stands. Godbeer tries to drag Ledet to the floor in hopes of a leg lock, but he ends up surrendering his back in a scramble instead. Ledet has both hooks in and goes palm-to-palm for the rear-naked choke. It doesn’t take long before Godbeer asks out of the fight.

Amanda Bobby Cooper vs. Anna Elmose

Round 1

The strawweights briefly tie up, Elmose lands a knee and they break. An inside low kick from Elmose buckles the leg of Cooper. Cooper lands a straight right hand, then follows with an uppercut-right hand combo. Cooper connects with another two-punch combination. Cooper goes up high with a kick but Elmose blocks it. Cooper counters a body kick with a right hook. Cooper continues to control the action with one-two combinations. Elmose answers with a crisp jab. Cooper goes to the body with an uppercut. Elmose drops Cooper with a straight right as the American throws a kick. Cooper is bleeding as the Danish fighter lands some short elbows from above. Elmose postures up to land a right hand. Cooper gets up and eats a left hook but lands a right of her own as time runs out.

Round 2

Cooper resumes her combination punching with a one-two to start, but Elmose lands a couple hard right hands in the early going. A jab-uppercut combo from Cooper connects. Elmose slips to the canvas and Cooper follows her to the mat. Elmose takes top position in a scramble and she sets up in half guard. Elmose drops elbows on Coopers face, and her wound is bleeding once again. Elmose allows Cooper to get back to her feet. Cooper lands a takedown as Elmose throws a right hand. Elmose is looking to set up a triangle from her back. She transitions to an omaplata, but Cooper gets side control in a scramble. Cooper passes to mount, but Elmose recovers guard. Cooper stands and lands some punches and an elbow. Cooper gets mount with 20 seconds to go. She finishes out the round landing punches and elbows before transitioning to an armbar. Elmose is saved by the horn.

Round 3

Cooper lands a jab, then follows with a one-two. She pressures Elmose, but the Danish fighter fires back with a stiff jab. Cooper lands a side kick to the face. Cooper finds the range on another one-two. Cooper follows a right hand with a knee in close quarters. A head kick by Cooper is blocked by Elmose. Elmose sticks a jab. Cooper goes back to the one-two, then switches stances and lands a left hook. Cooper counters Elmose with a jab and a cross. A straight left from Cooper finds its mark, then she penetrates Elmose’s guards with a push kick. Elmose seems to have slowed down this round, as Cooper has landed the majority of the offense. Cooper lands a double leg takedown with a little more than 30 seconds remaining. Cooper passes guard and ends the fight in side control.

Kevin Lee vs. Magomed Mustafaev

Round 1

Mustafaev lands a huge body kick and Lee immediately looks for a takedown. Mustafaev shoves him off and fires off another kick. Lee explodes for a takedown and this time he gets it. Mustafaev gets up and jumps guard for a guillotine. The Russian lets it go and Lee gets another takedown. Lee pops his head free from an arm-in guillotine. Lee lands an elbow as Mustafaev scrambles back up. Mustafaev has a body lock against the fence. He drops his level for a double leg, but Lee defends it. They remain in the clinch, with Lee landing knees to the body. Mustafaev just misses a spinning elbow on the break. Mustafaev tries a spinning kick and Lee spreads his arms, urging his foe forward. A spinning elbow glances the top of Lee’s head, and the Detroit native gets a takedown. Lee moves to mount, but Mustafaev reverses the position and gets to his feet. Lee is working for another takedown near the fence. He picks up the Russian, carries him closer to the center of the Octagon and deposits him on the canvas. Lee moves from half guard to back control and “The Motown Phenom” hunts for a rear-naked choke for the final 20 seconds of the round.

Round 2

Mustafaev falls on a kick and Lee quickly rushes in to land some offense. Moments later, Lee gets a relatively easy takedown. He’s in side control and tries to isolate Mustafaev’s arm for a kimura. Mustafaev powers his way up and lands a hard side kick followed by a knee. Lee drives for a takedown and pushes his foe against the fence. He yanks Mustafaev to the canvas near the fence and takes his man’s back with more than 3:00 to go. Both hooks are in and Lee is working to slide his left arm under Mustafaev’s chin. Lee has a body triangle secured and rolls Mustafaev over. Mustafaev eventually slides out the back door and they stand. The Russian lands a hard two-punch combination, but Lee responds with a perfectly timed takedown. Lee passes to half guard and then full mount. Mustafaev gives up his back and Lee locks in the body triangle from back control. Lee lands some right hands to the side of his opponent’s head. Lee is cranking the hold. It’s not yet under the chin but the hold is getting tighter. Mustafaev hangs on for as long as he can before the choke renders him unconscious.

Ali Bagautinov vs. Kyoji Horiguchi

Round 1

Bagautinov comes in with a leg kick in the first exchange, while Horiguchi misses a counter. About a minute in and both flyweight contenders are still feeling each other out. Bagautinov comes with a flying knee followed by a kick to the body. Horiguchi goes for a knee of his own, which Bagautinov catches and converts into a takedown. “The Puncher King” rides his foe near the fence, but the Japanese fighter gets up and turns Bagautinov into the cage. Horiguchi lands short knees on the inside. Horiguchi attempts to drag Bagautinov to the floor with a body lock. The Japanese fighter grapevines Bagautinov’s leg as he lands short punches to the side of the head. Horiguchi continues to hammer away as we approach the 1:00 mark. Bagautinov works his way up and eventually reverses the position. The Dagestani fighter slams his man down from the body lock position, but Horiguchi gets up quickly. The flyweights end the frame standing.

Round 2

Bagautinov just misses on a spinning high kick. Horiguchi pressures his foe near the fence and ties up with the “Puncher King.” Horiguchi lands a couple knees and separates. Bagautinov lands a two-punch combo in an exchange. Horiguchi buckles Bagautinov with a punch, and the American Top Team product pushes Bagautinov into the fence. Horiguchi grinds away, then lands a left hand on the break. A body kick form Bagautinov finds its mark. Horiguchi throws a combination and Bagautinov ties his man up. Horiguchi turns Bagautinov into the fence and gets him down. He grapevines the leg and begins landing short right hands to the side of the head. The shots aren’t especially powerful, but Horiguchi is staying busy. Bagautinov stands and grabs a single leg. Horiguchi maintains his balance and Bagautinov lets go. The fighters again end the frame on the feet.

Round 3

Bagautinov throws a body kick but it’s partially blocked. Baguatinov lands several punches in an exchange, but Horiguchi finds his mark as well. Bagautinov looks for a takedown. Horiguchi defends and lands some elbows to the side of the head. Bagautinov switches to a single leg but that’s unsuccessful and they separate. Horiguchi rushes forward with a multi-punch combination. Horiguchi lands a spinning back kick to the side of Bagautinov’s head, but it’s a glancing blow. After another exchange, Bagautinov shoots for a single leg against the fence. Horiguchi responds with more elbows to the side of the head. Horiguchi turns out and returns to the center of the Octagon. Bagautinov shoots again and pushes his man into the fence. Bagautinov drives for the takedown, but Horiguchi denies him. Horiguchi catches Bagautinov with a knee to the head as the Dagestani moves forward. Horiguchi pushes Bagautinov against the fence and changes levels for a takedown. Bagautinov returns to his feet but can’t offer any more offense as the horn sounds.

Round 1

Cedenblad goes up high with a kick but Marshman blocks it. Cedenblad tries to control distance with push kicks. Marshman works his way in and drops Cedenblad with a big left hook. Cedenblad recovers quickly and takes Marshman down. Cedenblad settles in Marshman’s guard, landing elbows from above. The elbows have opened a cut near Marshman’s left eye. Cedenblad is working methodically, posturing up and landing powerful elbows and punches. Marshman remains active in defending from his back. Cedenblad continues to smother the Welshman with one minute remaining, however. Cedenblad picks up the intensity of his punches over the final 10 seconds of the period.

Round 2

Marshman tags Cedenblad with a left hook in another exchange, but the Swede remains upright this time. Cedenblad is finding some success with jabs at distance. But Marshman is landing heavy left hooks in the pocket. Cedenblad lands a couple uppercuts then backs off. Marshman is bloodied but continues to throw heavy leather. Marshman punches his way into close quarters. Cedenblad slips and then eats a punch getting back to his feet. An overhand right from Marshman puts Cedenblad on wobbly legs. The Swede switches gears and takes Marshman down near the fence. Marshman gets up quickly this time. Cedenblad, still not entirely clear headed, wades forward and eats a hard three-punch combination from the Welshman before tumbling to the canvas. Cedenblad shoots out of desperation but Marshman is ready. He shoves Cedenblad aside and unloads with three unanswered punches on his helpless foe on the ground to bring an end to the contest.

Artem Lobov vs. Teruto Ishihara

Round 1

Ishihara throws a kick to the body. Lobov blocks a high kick, then misses an overhand right. Ishihara lands a left to the body. Ishihara remains on the outside, throwing kicks to the body and legs. Lobov lands a left hook. Lobov lands a right hand. Ishihara shoots for a takedown, but Lobov gets an underhook and defends it. Another right hand from Lobov finds its mark. Ishihara jabs to the body and Lobov answers with a right hand. Offense has come at a premium thus far. Lobov rushes forward with a combination. The featherweights trade low kicks. Lobov lands a body kick followed by a big right hand that staggers Ishihara. A left hook from Lobov also stuns the Team Alpha Male fighter. Lobov ends the round as the aggressor.

Round 2

Lobov spins Ishihara around with a low kick. Lobov ducks under a punch, clinches and shoves Ishihara away. Lobov shoves away an Ishihara single-leg attempt. An overhand right by Lobov stuns Ishihara with less than 10 seconds remaining, and the SBG Ireland representative swarms until the horn sounds.

Round 3

The combatants begin the frame trading leg kicks. Lobov misses a right hook but lands a left. He tags Ishihara with another left hook in the center of the cage. Lobov stuffs an Ishihara takedown attempt with ease. Lobov lands a heard kick that makes Ishihara shake his leg out. A left hand glances across Ishihara’s chin. Lobov then follows up with a standing hammerfist. Ishihara suddenly rocks Lobov with a punch and follows him down to the canvas. Ishihara is now in Lobov’s guard. Lobov seems to have regathered his bearings. Lobov scrambles to his feet. Lobov back to being the aggressor. He stuffs a takedown by Ishihara and moves to side control. A left hand from Lobov catches Ishihara on the temple. Lobov clinches with Ishihara and slams him to the floor. He moves to side control, then mount. Lobov ends the frame with a salvo of ground-and-pound from mount.

Johnson eats several right hands to the side of the head for his efforts. Johnson lands an elbow then turns. He drops Volkov with a huge right uppercut on the chin and pounces for the finish with ground-and-pound. Volkov recovers guard, but Johnson is still landing heavy punches from above. Johnson attempts to shove Volkov’s legs aside but ends up back in guard. Johnson keeps forearm pressure as he looks to advance position. Volkov sits up near the fence and eventually stands. Volkov lands some elbows to the side of the head. Johnson ends the frame pushing his opponent into the fence.

Round 2

Johnson lunges forward with big looping punches. Volkov absorbs them and answers with a combination of his own. Johnson forces the clinch but Volkov turns his opponent into the fence. Johnson lands a knee and then drops down for a single-leg. Johnson uses the ankle pick to get Volkov down and quickly unleashes a barrage of right hands before the Bellator vet can return to his feet. Volkov turns and sneaks an uppercut through Johnson’s guard. Referee Grant Waterman orders the fighters to separate. Johnson again lunges forward with power punches. Volkov angles out of danger and they stand in the center of the Octagon. Johnson again flurries and eats a knee. Johnson changes levels but Volkov stuffs it and shoves Johnson into the fence. Round 3

Johnson continues his strategy of rushing forward with punching flurries. Volkov lands a stinging kick to the body and then drives Johnson into the fence. They jockey for position along the cage, before eventually separating. The pace has slowed considerably. Volkov lands a hard knee as Johnson tries for a takedown. The American pushes his foe into the fence but Volkov reverses position. Johnson eventually separates and lands an uppercut as he moves away. Volkov lands a push kick followed by a glancing head kick. Johnson makes Volkov’s lead leg buckle with a lunging punch. A hip toss by Johnson is unsuccessful. Volkov lands another hard knee to the gut and then sprawls on the ensuing takedown. Volkov peppers his foe with punches on the ground as time expires.

Round 1

It’s a tentative start for the two lightweights in the opening minute, with neither landing any significant offense. Ray lands a straight left as Pearson changes levels. Ray lands a push kick to the gut. Pearson is struggling to fin his range, although neither man has done much in the way of output. Ray maintaing distance with another push kick. Pearson answers with a leg kick, then blocks a high kick by Ray. Ray continues to use kicks to keep Pearson at bay. Pearson connects with a hard body kick. Ray lands a jab, clinches with Pearson and unloads with a couple knees. Pearson hits another body kick and a high kick from Ray just misses. Ray shoots for a takedown. He connects his hands, carries his opponent to his corner and slams Pearson to the matt. Pearson scrambles up and turns Ray into the cage, landing a few short punches to the body before they separate as the round ends.

Round 2

Ray lands a left hand early. Ray follows up with a glancing head kick and a short left hand. A spinning back kick misses but backs Pearson up. Ray attacks the lead leg of Pearson. Pearson goes back to the body kick. Ray shoots for a takedown, but Pearson defends it against the cage. Ray lands a knee to the body before Pearson shoves him off. Ray catches Pearson ducking and kicks him in the face. Pearson steps in with a low kick. Pearson lands a low kick and a punch up top. Pearson lands a body kick and Ray answers with an inside low kick. Pearson counters with a body shot. Pearson digs with another right hook to the body. Ray lands another head kick. Pearson catches it after it lands and throws the leg aside. Ray catches a kick but misses a spinning kick counter.

Round 3

Ray lands an inside leg kick, as he attempts to keep Pearson at range. Another inside kick finds a home. Pearson dodges a head kick and lands a powerful low kick. Pearson blocks a head kick. Ray lands a straight let to the body. Ray then lands a hard body pick that the Brit is able to catch. Pearson connects with a right hand to the body. Ray throws a head kick that is partially blocked by Pearson. Pearson is still struggling to close the distance. Ray goes low and then high with a kick. Ray beckons Pearson forward and then lands a pair of leg kicks. Pearson catches a kick and then chases Ray for a head kick, but it’s blocked. Pearson pushes forward with time winding down. Ray urges him forward and bites down on his mouthguard. Pearson fires off a combination and Ray attacks with more low kicks as the round ends.

Gegard Mousasi vs. Uriah Hall

Round 1

Mousasi lands a low kick and Hall counters with a jab. Hall misses a spinning kick. Hall chops away with a low kick. Mousasi returns fire with one of his own. Mousasi snaps Hall’s head back with a crisp jab. Hall lands a spinning back kick to the chest. Mousasi tags Hall with another jab. Mousasi shoots for a takedown with about 1:00 to go. Mousasi gets him down from the body lock and he lands in side control. Mousasi goes to work, landing a series of punches to the face and head. Hall covers up, but he isn’t doing anything to defend himself. Mousasi has Hall’s left wrist controlled, which allows Mousasi to land nearly 20 unanswered punches before referee Marc Goddard intervenes. Mousasi avenges a September 2015 loss to Hall, winning his fourth straight bout in the process.
