UFC 267 Medical Suspensions: New Champ Glover Teixeira Facing 180 Days for Shoulder Injury

Newly-crowned light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira is facing a potentially lengthy medical suspension following his victory over Jan Blachowicz in the UFC 267 headliner.

Teixeira must be cleared by an orthopedic doctor for a right shoulder injury or he will be sidelined for 180 days. At a minimum, the Brazilian is suspended for 30 days with no contact for 21 days. UFC 267 took place at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi and saw Teixeira submit Blachowicz with a rear-naked choke 3:02 into Round 2 of their 205-pound clash. Blachowicz, like every fighter on the card, received a mandatory seven-day term.

The UFC, which self-regulated the event, released a full list of medical suspensions to mixedmartialarts.com.

Five other fighters from the event are facing 180-day medical suspensions: Albert Duraev (facial laceration), Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (right foot, right hand), Benoit St. Denis (needs ENT clearance), Michal Oleksiejczuk (left hand) and Tagir Ulanbekov (left tibia, fibula).

UFC 267 Medical Suspensions:

Glover Teixeira: suspended for 180 days or must be cleared by an orthopedic doctor for a “right shoulder” injury. Minimum suspension of 30 days, no contact for 21 days.

Petr Yan: suspended for 30 days after a “hard bout.

Cory Sandhagen: suspended for 30 days after a “hard bout.”

Volkan Oezdemir: suspended 45 days due to “left brow laceration.” No contact for 30 days

Virna Jandiroba: suspended 30 days after “hard bout.” No contact for 21 days.

Zubaira Tukhugov: suspended 30 days for “right brow laceration.” No contact for 21 days.

Ricardo Ramos: suspended 30 days for “left eyelid laceration.” No contact for 21 days.

Albert Duraev: suspended 180 days or must be cleared by an oral and maxillofacial doctor for a “facial laceration.” Minimum suspension of 30 days, no contact for 21 days.

Roman Kopylov: suspended 60 days for a “nasal laceration.” No contact for 45 days.

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos: suspended for 180 days or must be cleared by negative right foot and right hand x-rays. Minimum suspension of 30 days, no contact for 21 days.

Benoit St. Denis: suspended for 180 days or must be cleared by ENT doctor. Minimum suspension of 60 days, no contact for 45 days.

Michal Oleksiejczuk: suspended for 180 days or must be cleared by negative left hand x-ray. Minimum suspension of 30 days, no contact for 21 days.

Shamil Gamzatov: suspended 45 days because of the TKO finish. No contact for 30 days.

Makwan Amirkhani: suspended 60 days because of the KO finish. No contact for 45 days.

Andre Petroski: suspended for 30 days for a “hard bout.” No contact for 21 days.

Yaozong Hu: suspended 45 days for a “hard bout.” No contact for 30 days.

Tagir Ulanbekov: suspended for 180 days or must be cleared by negative left tibia and fibula x-rays. Minimum suspension of 30 days, no contact for 21 days.
