Olympic gold medal-winning weightlifter Szymon Kolecki will square off against Martin Zawada in the KSW 58 headliner.
The Polish promotion announced the booking over the weekend. KSW 58
takes place in Lodz, Poland, on Jan. 30 and will see Salahdine
Parnasse defend his featherweight crown against Daniel
Torres in the co-main event. The event can be viewed via
pay-per-view on KSWTV.com.
Kolecki, who won gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, is 8-1 since making his mixed martial arts debut in 2017. The 39-year-old Pole rebounded from his first career defeat to earn first-round stoppages of Mariusz Pudzianowksi and Damian Janikowski in his first two KSW bouts in 2019. Kolecki has finished all eight of his triumphs by knockout or technical knockout.
Germany’s Zawada is a veteran of 45 professional fights who has squared off against the likes of Jan Blachowicz, Mamed Khalidov, Krzysztof Kułak, Lukasz Jurkowski, and Krzysztof Jotko during his tenure. Most recently, “King Kong” outpointed former UFC competitor Thiago Silva at KSW 49 in May 2019.
Parnasse claimed the interim 145-pound belt with a second-round TKO of Roman Szymanski at KSW 48 before taking a five-round verdict against Ivan Buchinger at KSW 52 in December 2019. The 23-year-old Frenchman is 14-0-1 since beginning his MMA career in 2015.
Torres, meanwhile, emerged as a featherweight contender following a unanimous decision triumph against UFC vet Filip Pejic at KSW 51 and a split verdict over ex-PFL talent Max Coga at KSW 56. The 26-year-old Austria-based Brazilian has won three of his four KSW appearances.
