A fight originally scheduled in June between promising young female fighters has been pushed back a month.

On June 13, Liana Jojua (7-3) was supposed to face Diana Belbita (13-5) in Kazakhstan, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this event was canceled. Jojua’s management reported that their bout has been rescheduled for July 15, where she will have her 11th fight on July 15 at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. For both athletes, this fight will be their second in the UFC, with each losing their respective debuts in late 2019.

Born in Georgia, Jojua took a Russian passport some years ago. Jojua held her first fight in the undercard of UFC 242 in September last year, losing by knockout in the third round to Sarah Moras. In need of a victory, Jojua will make the move down to flyweight from the bantamweight division. Five of the seven wins for “She Wolf” have come by submission, with four of those taking place in the first round.

Romanian’s Belbita also lost her first fight in the UFC, dropping a unanimous decision to English fighter Molly McCann, who, incidentally, will also fight in Abu Dhabi against Brazil's Taila Santos. “The Warrior Princess” holds a finish rate of 77 percent, stopping her opponent in each of her last four wins. Before the defeat to McCann, Belbita strung four wins together in the Real Xtreme Fighting promotion in Romania to earn a place on the UFC roster.

The UFC Fight Night card on July 15 will be held on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Serving as the headliner is a featherweight matchup between Calvin Kattar and Dan Ige, while the co-main event sees Frankie Edgar take on Pedro Munhoz at bantamweight. The card is the second of four that will be held on the mysterious “Fight Island.”
