Lineker is coming off a split-decision loss to Cory Sandhagen at UFC Fort Lauderdale. Following the loss, the Brazilian was calling for his release or a fight contract, complaining about lack of activity. He then was set to step in on short notice against Rob Font at UFC Greenville but had to withdraw from the card just days out after suffering a cut on his face.
The 29-year-old had notable wins over the likes of Font, Ian McCall, John Dodson, Marlon Vera among others. But, the veteran never got the opportunity to fight for UFC gold in his career.
“Hands of Stone” had 16 fights with the Las Vegas-based promotion and went 12-4 and was ranked 10th in the UFC’s rankings.
