Renan Ferreira Disqualified in Main Event as Brett Martin Earns Title Shot at LFA 70

Renan Ferreira just couldn’t seem to follow the rules against Brett Martin, but Legacy Fighting Alliance is ready to crown a new heavyweight champion following LFA 70.

Martin briefly took advantage of the opportunity, as he was able to gain top position after Ferreira fell down attempting a leg kick. The fight came to a screeching halt after Ferreira (5-2) reversed position and landed additional right hands to the back to the head. Hinds had seen enough and called it a match at just 3:14 of the opening frame.
With the victory, Martin (3-1) landed a match against Daniel
James for the vacant LFA heavyweight championship in September.
After the bout, Martin said he was disappointed with how the
victory unfolded but told the booing fans that they don’t have a
“f*cking clue” what fighters go through and defended the referee’s
decision to intervene.
Mark Lemminger emerged victorious in a battle of welterweight prospects. The first round was largely a grappling contest as Isaac Steele secured better position but took more damage as his opponent landed an array of elbows. Round 2 saw the fighters trade on the feet until Lemminger (9-0) snatched a tight guillotine choke that forced Steele (7-2) to tap out at 3:14.

Undefeated featherweight prospect Jake Childers needed only 13 seconds to take out James Krause-Simmons. Childers (6-0) landed a ferocious knee as Krause-Simmons (2-2) went for a takedown and that was all referee Hinds needed to see.
Dante Schiro kept his undefeated record intact against Roufusport fighter R'Mandel Cameron. It took less than 30 seconds for the wrestler to get ahold of Cameron (5-5), and he had him down on the mat after less than a minute. His inexperience showed as he lost back control early on and failed to finish a triangle choke attempt after several minutes of tense grappling exchanges. Both fighters kept it standing in the second, which proved to be a much more even fight. The final frame saw Schiro (5-0) rely on his wrestling and it was enough to earn a dominant unanimous decision from the judges (29-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Lloyd McKinney missed weight for his 130-pound catchweight bout against Gonzalo Ponce and that will mar what was otherwise a fantastic performance. McKinney (9-6) immediately took his opponent down and found himself caught in a guillotine choke, but he was able to battle out of it and latch on a triangle choke of his own. That proved to be too much for Ponce (3-2), who tapped at 2:43 of Round 2.

Alex Polizzi derailed the hype train behind former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Pierre Walters and confirmed that he is a light heavyweight prospect to watch. After an even showing on the feet, Polizzi (4-0) took down Walters (1-1) and exposed his ground game. He quickly took mount and managed to rain down punishment while in the dominant position. After a few solid elbow strikes, referee Al Wichgers waved off the action at 3:27 of the opening period.
In the first of two professional prelim bouts, Austin Lutchen (2-0) defeated Andrew Kauzlaric (0-1) in the first round via TKO. Meanwhile, Collin Anglin (2-0) had the second-fastest win of the night after knocking out Morgan Sickinger (20-12) in just 14 seconds.
