The New Mexico-based fighter withdrew from the card to attend to the health of his son, who suffers from the condition hydrocephalus (an excess of fluid in the brain). “Family first, see you soon son.”
On Saturday night, Borg provided a positive update on his son’s condition in a statement via his Instagram account.
“Thank you all so much for the overwhelming love and support, as you all know I pulled from my fight to be with my son,” Borg wrote. “With his condition being lifelong, he is at risk for surgery everyday. Although there were some worries about his shunt failing due to some malfunction symptoms I am happy to let everyone know that he is doing well and will not need any surgery. Thank you to everyone who had reached out we love you all.”
With Borg out, Dvalishvili cruised to a dominant unanimous verdict against replacement foe Gustavo Lopez in the UFC on ESPN 10 prelims at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. “The Tazmexican Devil” was recently in action at UFC Fight Night 171 on May 13, when he dropped a split decision to Ricky Simon in a bantamweight tilt.
