Norman Parke-Marian Ziolkowski Interim Title Fight Added to KSW 50

Polish organization KSW continues to stack its marquis KSW 50 card, adding a third title fight.

According to the promotion's official press release on Thursday, Norman Parke (27-6-1, 1 NC) will be fighting Marian Ziolkowski (21-7-1, 1 NC) for the interim lightweight strap. Current two-division champ Mateusz Gamrot has decided to "take a break from the sport," and his return timetable is currently unknown. Salahdine Parnasse and Roman Szymanski already contended for the interim featherweight belt in April -- the other belt Gamrot holds.

Parke has won his last four bouts, all by decision, including three in the KSW cage. The only blemishes he has suffered inside the promotion have come against Gamrot, losing a contentious decision in his KSW debut. "Stormin's" rematch with Gamrot also ended poorly, when an eye poke stopped the match in the second round and resulted in a no contest. Prior to signing with KSW, Parke won his season of "The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes" at lightweight in 2012, and competed for the Ultimate Fighting Championship nine times before his release.

Ziolkowski lost his promotional debut as well, when Kleber Koike Erbst earned "Submission of the Night" honors by tapping Ziolkowski with a first-round armbar. Since then, "Golden Boy" has won his last two by decision against Grzegorz Szulakowski, and most recently, Gracjan Szadzinski in April.

Of this opportunity, Ziolkowski remarked, "Fighting for the belt was my dream and now it has become a reality. After winning my last two fights I proved that I am the one to fight for the belt and when I become KSW champion my plan is to defend the belt as long as I can and 'clean out' the lightweight division."

KSW 50 takes place on September 14 at the SSE Arena in London. The event will be headlined by a heavyweight title defense for Philip DeFries against an undetermined challenger, and light heavyweight king Tomasz Narkun will also put his belt on the line that night.
