MFC Signs Lightweight Prospect Fadai for Oct. 14 Debut

Canadian promotion Maximum Fighting Championship this week announced the signing of Iranian-born lightweight prospect Sabah Fadai, who is expected to debut Oct. 14 at MFC 31.

Now residing in Canada, the once-beaten Iranian has split time competing in the Philippines, Singapore and his new home country.

“I’ve been on ESPN in Singapore before, but the chance to be on HDNet, to be the first fight on TV at MFC 31, is so great. I really can’t believe I’m getting this spot,” said Fadai in a statement. “I’m a pretty complete, all-around fighter and feel I’m dangerous in the standup or on the ground. I teach muay Thai in the Philippines, but being in MMA, I feel good about submissions and pounding guys out. Wherever it goes, I’m comfortable.”

Headlined by a lightweight title fight between Antonio McKee and Brian Cobb, MFC 31 does not yet have an announced location or venue.

Known as “The Persian Warrior,” Fadai has finished all six of his career victims, stopping four by knockout. The British Columbia resident fought twice in 2010, knocking out Yang Fei in May before forcing Doo Jae Jung to submit with an arm injury in August. Fadai’s MFC 31 appearance against a to-be-named opponent will mark his first in-ring venture of 2011.
