Betzold lost his left leg after eating poisoned candy when he was 6 years old, according to a recent story on MMAJunkie.com. A blood clot would develop and the leg eventually became gangrenous, which led to the amputation.
Anchored at Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, Calif., Betzold is 6-3 since making his professional debut on Nov. 14, 2009. The US Elite Combat representative enters his initial Legacy FC foray riding a four-fight winning streak. He last competed at Xplode Fight Series “Cerebral” in July, tapping Jimmy Marquez with a rear-naked choke 2:37 into the second round.
The promotion’s next event, Legacy FC 38, is scheduled for Dec. 12 at the Arena Theatre in Houston.
