LFA 84 Weigh-in Results: Title Fight Official; Card Restructured Due to COVID-19

Despite the coronavirus wreaking havoc on the card, the Legacy Fighting Alliance is still set to crown a new featherweight champion at LFA 84.

The card, which was originally scheduled for seven bouts, is down to four after a slew of issues related to COVID-19. The eight fighters remaining all made weight, and undefeated prospects Justin Gonzales and Jake Childers will battle for the vacant featherweight strap.

Gonzales’ impressive career on the regional circuit was enough for him to gain a spot on Dana White's Contender Series, where he won a decision over Zach Zane to improve to 10-0. "J-Train" has experience fighting five rounds as he went the distance twice in Sparta Combat League title fights. Ever the professional, Gonzales had no issue making weight and came in at 144.4 pounds.

Childers (8-0) has looked impressive in his three prior LFA bouts, including a knockout over James Krause-Simmons with a knee and slamming Nate Togbah Richardson for another KO win. He'll look to continue his streak of impressive finishes against Gonzales and try to win his first title. Childers hit the scales at 145 pounds.

The promotion had its fair share of problems related to the pandemic. Syndicate MMA coach John Wood tested positive for the virus, and Natan Levy's fight against Ben Lugo has been scratched as a result. Contact tracing determined that Andre Fialho and Tyler Ray were exposed to the coronavirus as well, and they were pulled as a result. Finally, Kameron Jordan did not attend weigh-ins, and his card opener against Christian Rodriguez has been canceled.

LFA 84 will air live on UFC Fight Pass starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on Friday .
