Karl Roberson Pulled from UFC Fight Night 171 Due to Illness from Weight Cut

As a result, Robertson’s middleweight clash with Marvin Vettori has been canceled and UFC Fight Night 171 will move forward with 10 bouts. Roberson was the only fighter to miss weight on Tuesday, tipping the scales at 187.5 pounds.
According to a report from ESPN, Roberson fell ill after weigh-ins and was transported to a nearby hospital. He was discharged on Wednesday after being deemed medically unfit to fight. Roberson entered the card on a two-fight winning streak in the Octagon. The Dana White’s Contender Series alum is 4-2 in UFC competition and 9-2 as a professional overall.
UFC Fight Night 171 takes place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, on Wednesday night and is headlined by a light heavyweight tilt between Anthony Smith and Glover Teixeira. The will air in its entirety on ESPN+ and begins at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
