John Allan Arte Tests Positive for Banned Substance Following UFC Sacramento Win

John Allan Arte failed an in-competition drug test in relation to his victory over Mike Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night 155 on July 13. was first to report the news. California State Athletic Commission executive officer Andy Foster informed ESPN that Arte tested positive for tamoxifen, which is typically used to treat breast cancer. It also can be used as an estrogen blocker to combat the side effects of steroid use.

Arte, who defeated Rodriguez via unanimous decision on July 13 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, is facing a suspension from both USADA and CSAC. He will also likely be fined and have his victory overturned to a no contest.

The 26-year-old Brazilian was making his promotional debut at UFC Sacramento. The Chute Boxe representative has won six of his last seven pro outings, with his only setback during that time coming against Vinicius Moreira on the Contender Series.
