Cejudo became a simultaneous two-division champion when he stopped Marlon Moraes in the third round at UFC 238 to claim the promotion’s bantamweight crown. Cejudo, who became the flyweight champion thanks to a split-decision win over Demetrious Johnson in August 2018, relinquished that belt late last year. The Olympic gold medalist has won his last five fights within the Las Vegas-based promotion.
Aldo, who is widely regarded as the greatest featherweight of all time, made his 135-pound debut at UFC 245, where he dropped a closely-contested split decision to Moraes on Dec. 14. Despite that defeat, Cejudo immediately expressed a desire to defend his bantamweight title against the Nova Uniao product. The 33-year-old Brazilian has won just two of his last six UFC appearances.
