Flyweights Askar Askarov, Alex Perez Booked for UFC Fight Night on July 31

An intriguing flyweight clash pitting Askar Askarov against Alex Perez is on tap for UFC Fight Night on July 31.

Both fighters confirmed the booking on social media following an initial report from BJPenn.com. The event takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and is headlined by a middleweight tilt between Uriah Hall and Sean Strickland.

After battling current champ Brandon Moreno to a split draw, Askarov has rattled off decision victories over Tim Elliott, Alexandre Pantoja and Joseph Benavidez. The former Absolute Championship Akhmat title holder is 14-0-1 over the course of a career that began in 2013.

Perez, meanwhile, hasn’t competed since a first-round submission loss to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 255 on Nov. 21. Prior to that, the Team Oyama representative had scored consecutive victories over Jussier Formiga, Jordan Espinosa and Mark De La Rosa.
