Doerksen will meet Tom Lawlor in
a preliminary middleweight matchup at UFC 113 “Machida vs. Shogun
2” on May 8 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Sherdog.com has learned
from sources within the Doerksen camp. Doerksen replaces an injured

Credeur.
Doerksen will carry a five-fight winning streak into the bout, his first inside the UFC since a technical knockout loss to Jason MacDonald in April 2008. The well-traveled 32-year-old defeated Chad Herrick by split decision at King of the Cage “Bad Boys 2” on April 16 in Detroit. Doerksen -- who owns notable wins over Chris Leben, 2006 Pride Fighting Championships welterweight grand prix finalist Dennis Kang and “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 3 runner-up Ed Herman -- has delivered 32 of his 44 career victories by submission.
Lawlor, one of the UFC’s more eccentric characters, was a three-time national wrestling champion at the University of Central Florida. A quarter-finalist on Season 8 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” the 27-year-old Fall River, Mass., native dropped a controversial split decision to the undefeated Aaron Simpson at UFC Fight Night 20 in January. Five of Lawlor’s six wins have come by knockout, technical knockout or submission, including his UFC 100 victory over Arizona Combat Sports standout C.B. Dollaway.
A rematch between light heavyweight king Lyoto Machida and 2005 Pride Fighting Championships middleweight grand prix winner Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will headline UFC 113. In addition, the event will feature a pivotal welterweight tilt pitting Josh Koscheck against Paul Daley, a lightweight bout pairing Sam Stout with Jeremy Stephens and a heavyweight matchup between Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson and “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 10 quarter-finalist Matt Mitrione. The show will also mark the return of former middleweight title contender Patrick Cote, as he locks horns with Alan Belcher.
