Former UFC talent Chris Camozzi will square off with former EliteXC competitor Matt Lucas in the main event of Shark Fights 20, the Texas-based promotion announced Friday.
Aside from the headlining middleweight attraction, the show will also feature a light heavyweight co-main event pitting one-time Strikeforce fighter Artenas Young against the undefeated Clifford Starks. Additionally, the bill will showcase featherweight scraps pitting Georgi Karkhanyan against Jared Downing and Casey Milliken against Jimmy Jones.
Shark Fights 20 goes down Oct. 15 from the Edgewater Casino Resort in Laughlin, Nev. The event will air on cable network Fuel TV via tape delay.
Camozzi has won five of his last six contests. A competitor on the 11th season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” Camozzi started his UFC career with two consecutive victories over James Hammortree and Dong Yi Yang, respectively. However, “Kamikaze” was released by the promotion after his first Octagon defeat, as the 24-year-old was submitted by Kyle Noke at UFC 127 in February. Most recently, Camozzi earned a split decision over Joey Villasenor in May at Shark Fights 15.
Representing Arizona Combat Sports, Lucas has won five straight bouts, knocking out four of his defeated opponents in that span. Lucas has only lost twice as a pro, falling by submission to armbar specialist Giva Santana and Bellator Fighting Championships tournament finalist Richard Hale in 2008 and 2009, respectively. The middleweight was last seen getting his hand raised on May 21, knocking out Shawn Frye in just 42 seconds at Rage in the Cage 152.
