Bellator 283 Weigh-in Results: Douglas Lima, 2 Others Miss Weight

After nearly a month of no events, Bellator MMA returns to Showtime with Bellator 283.

Headlining the 12-fight card is a welterweight showdown between former champion Douglas Lima and promotional mainstay Jason Jackson. While the Jamaican fighter had no issue and weighed 171 pounds on the dot, Lima (32-10) came in heavy at 172.8 pounds. The main event is still intact despite the miss, though Lima will be fined a percentage of his purse. Two prelim fighters on the card also missed weight, as Kevin Boehm checked in 1.6 pounds over the featherweight limit while Mark Coates missed the bantamweight cap by 1.8 pounds. Both Boehm and Coates have also been fined, and the fights will otherwise continue as scheduled.

Lima is currently on the worst losing streak of his career, having lost three straight. A shot at middleweight glory against Gegard Mousasi went awry in 2020, and then the Brazilian lost his welterweight title to Yaroslav Amosov. Most recently, "The Phenom" came up short against Michael Page, who won their rematch via split decision.

Meanwhile, "The Ass-Kicking Machine" is riding an impressive five-fight win streak. Jackson (15-4) most recently defeated former UFC champion Benson Henderson, Neiman Gracie and Paul Daley, all by decision. While he hasn't had a finish inside the promotion since 2018, Jackson will look to make a statement against Lima and get a crack at gold.

Bellator 283's main card will air live on Showtime at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT on Friday. Prelims begin at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on YouTube.
