Bellator 159 Weigh-in Results: Guillard Misses Weight Yet Again, as Does Taimanglo

Bellator 159 will come to you live on Friday night on Spike beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT and it features an intriguing battle between rising prospect Darrion Caldwell and Joe Taimanglo. Also featured on the marquee will be fan favorite David Rickels taking on former UFC fighter Melvin Guillard in a pivotal lightweight scrum.

At Thursday’s weigh-ins, Taimanglo was the first of the main event combatants to stroll to the scale and when he did, he was over by two pounds at 138. Caldwell, one of the brightest young talents in the division, officially weighed 136 pounds.

Guillard, who finds himself in the midst of a three-fight losing streak, desperately needs to win, but obviously did not show the same desperation to hit his contracted weight as he came in at 157.9 pounds. “The Caveman,” meanwhile, clocked in at 155.8 pounds.

Daniel Weichel will square off against Emmanuel Sanchez in a featured featherweight bout. Sanchez weighed in at 146 pounds while Weichel, a former title challenger, came in at 145.2.

The action will come to fight fans live from the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kan. Bellator will stream the preliminary card live beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
