Arnold Adams: BKFC Title Defense 'Long Overdue'

Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship heavyweight king Arnold Adams won his title back in October at BKFC 3, and he has been on the sidelines ever since.

At BKFC 7 on Saturday, Adams will take on Chase Sherman and attempt to defend his belt for the first time. Although the championship affair comes with added pressure, he says the pressure is there because of his past.

"It could be more pressure but I put the pressure on myself. When I won my first pro title, my first title defense I lost," Adams said to Sherdog.com. "So, I put a lot of pressure on myself that I can't lose this title and I need to defend it."

Against Sherman, it will no doubt be a tough fight. The Ultimate Fighting Championship vet Sherman is known as a knockout artist in the sport of MMA, scoring 13 finishes with strikes in his 14 career victories, including 12 in the opening round. Yet, Adams isn't worried about that and instead he is just focusing on himself.

"I just focus on myself and don't worry about what Chase brings to the table. When you start to train for a specific opponent you now solely focus on what he is going to do, or what move he is going to do. A lot of people add new things to their arsenal, so they now hit you with something else and you are knocked out," he said. "So, I'm just focusing on myself and getting my hand raised. If he attacks me then he will get knocked out, if not it will be a chess match. No doubt, it will be an interesting fight."

In the end, Adams is just happy to fight and finally defend his belt, concluding with, "This title defense is long overdue."
