Morono has won his last two, prevailing twice in 2021 over Donald Cerrone and David Zawada. “The Great White” knocked Cerrone out in the first round in May, and went on to capture a clear-cut unanimous decision in September over the German. Dating back the last three years, the Houston native has amassed a record of 6-2, with the only two to beat him Kalinn Williams and Anthony Pettis. On his way up and establishing himself among the always-exciting in the division, Morono has beaten the likes of Max Griffin, Kenan Song and the aforementioned Cerrone and Zawada.
Gall has alternated wins and losses in his last seven outings, with a pattern that began with a victory over Sage Northcutt in 2016. Since then, the grappler out of New Jersey has fallen short against Randy Brown, Diego Sanchez and Mike Perry as he developed inside the Octagon. The losses have been followed by submissions over George Sullivan and Jordan Williams, as well as a decision victory over Salim Touahri along the way. Gall’s young career finish rate stands at 86%, with all of his stoppages coming by rear-naked choke.
UFC on ESPN 31 takes place on Dec. 4 in Las Vegas at the UFC Apex, and bantamweight contenders will toe the line in the headliner as Rob Font faces Jose Aldo. The remainder of the bout order has not yet been set, but expected main card tilts include a middleweight clash between Brendan Allen and Brad Tavares, a light heavyweight rumble pitting Jimmy Crute against Jamahal Hill, and a major lightweight battle with divisional implications between 10-1 strikers Brad Riddell and Rafael Fiziev.
