Rob Font was originally scheduled to meet Cody Stamann at UFC Fight Night 154. Unfortunately, the latter had to withdraw due to an injury and was replaced by John Lineker. That means Font will have a chance to avenge a previous loss to the Brazilian bantamweight who defeated him via decision at UFC 198. As the two 135ers try to move up the rankings, learn more about their upcoming bout through the numbers below.

Post-fight bonuses

Font and Lineker may not be at the top five of the division as of the moment, but when it comes to bringing in exciting fights, they are certainly up there. Lineker, who has been in the UFC much longer than Font, owns four post-fight bonuses. The Brazilian made heads turn in his very first Octagon bout where he engaged in a thrilling scuffle with Louis Gaudinot, who submitted him seconds before time expired in round two.

For their efforts, they were given Fight of the Night honors, which was Lineker’s first. He also shared Fight of the Night awards with Alptekin Ozkilic and Francisco Rivera. In addition, he has earned one Performance of the Night bonus after knocking out Michael McDonald, which makes for a total of four post-fight bonuses.

After nine UFC appearances, Font has garnered two post-fight bonuses. Like Lineker, he got his first on his Octagon debut, where he starched veteran George Roop to take Performance of the Night honors. He earned the same award following his submission of Douglas Silva de Andrade. That’s two post-fight bonuses for the Team Sityodtong standout.

Wins by knockout

There’s a reason Lineker is called “Hands of Stone.” Make that 14 reasons. Lineker has floored and stopped a long list of fighters in four weight classes, namely Mauricio Alves, Heriton Alves, Alexandre Chatuba, Wagner Campos, Alessandro Cordeiro, Saulo Martins, Luiz Carlos Alves Neves, Francisco Nazareno Figueredo Jr., Azamat Gashimov, Jose Maria Tome, Phil Harris, Alptekin Ozkilic, McDonald and Brian Kelleher.

Font is the more dynamic striker, having caught opponents with kicks and knees on separate occasions, leading to a finish. He holds seven victories by KO or TKO, with victims that include Thane Stimson, Chris Foster, Tristan Johnson, Roop, Joey Gomez, Matt Schnell and Thomas Almeida.

Wins by submission

Given the strong power in his hands, it’s easy to think that Lineker has little ground game. But the truth is, he is a jiu-jitsu brown belt with four submission stoppages in the UFC. He has tapped out Alvino Jose Torres, Felipe Alves, Renato Velame and Rivera. Like Lineker, Font also has four wins by submission. The jiu-jitsu purple belt has submitted Matt Tuthill, Lionel Young, Ahsan Abdullah and de Andrade.

Losses by stoppage

Of Font’s four career losses, three were by decision (Desmond Green, Lineker and Raphael Assuncao) and one was by submission (Pedro Munhoz). Lineker, on the other hand, has been decisioned six times (Erick da Silva, Andre Luis de Souza, Rafael Silva, Ali Bagautinov, T.J. Dillashaw and Cory Sandhagen). He was also submitted three times (Nelson Velasques, Felipe Arantes, and Gaudinot). Advertisement
