If nothing else, good on Pyfer for getting to this spot. Pyfer’s first attempt at gaining a UFC contract went about as poorly as possible for “Bodybagz.” Matched with Dustin Stoltzfus on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2020, little happened until Stoltzfus picked up the Team Balance product for a slam, only for Pyfer to shatter his arm upon impact. After a year-plus recovery, Pyfer scored a regional win to get another shot on DWCS in July, and he was the clear highlight of a lackluster episode, scoring an impressive finish and getting his moment in the sun as the only fighter to earn a contract. Pyfer is a relatively solid but straightforward pressure fighter capable of scoring the knockout or pivoting to his wrestling, and he is set up well in his UFC debut against Amedovski, who is looking for his first UFC win in four tries. Amedovski is a knockout artist and little else, but he has been beaten to the punch in most of his UFC losses. While Amedovski has a puncher’s chance, Pyfer is still likely to beat him in a brawl and should have the opportunity to take this fight to the mat and score a finish if things start to go even slightly south. The pick is Pyfer via first-round stoppage.
