Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Rafael Cavalcante will square off with “The Ultimate Fighter 8” winner Ryan Bader at UFC 174.
Ultimate Fighting Championship officials announced the booking on Wednesday. UFC 174 takes place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is headlined by a flyweight title showdown between Demetrious Johnson and Ali Bagautinov. The pay-per-view broadcast will additionally see Tyron Woodley collide with Rory MacDonald in a pivotal welterweight co-main event.
Cavalcante, 33, has posted a 1-1 record since joining the UFC last year, suffering a first-round knockout at the hands of Thiago Santos in his promotional debut last June. “Feijao” rebounded from that setback in November, however, when he stopped Igor Pokrajac in just 78 seconds at UFC Fight Night “Belfort vs. Henderson.”
Bader, 30, will also step back into the Octagon on the heels of a victory, as “Darth” dominated veteran grappler Anthony Perosh last December. The 20-fight pro finished 2013 with a 2-1 ledger, sandwiching a knockout defeat to Glover Teixeira between his victories over Vladimir Matyushenko and Perosh.
