Three fighters from Saturday’s UFC 174 card have been handed potential six-month medical suspensions by the British Columbia Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development.

UFC 174 was headlined by a flyweight title clash which saw Demetrious Johnson retain his crown with a dominant five-round verdict over Ali Bagautinov. Neither 125-pound talent is facing a significant amount of time on the sidelines.

Ryan Jimmo, who was submitted by Ovince St. Preux 2:10 into the second round of their light heavyweight encounter, has been suspended for 180 days pending an x-ray of his right forearm and elbow. He must be cleared by an orthopedic surgeon before he can return to training or competition. Jimmo was overheard telling the referee “my arm is broken” moments after St. Preux attempted to frame a kimura.

Octagon newcomer Valerie Letourneau is also facing six months on the shelf following her split decision triumph over Elizabeth Phillips in a women’s bantamweight affair. A left hand from Phillips in the opening stanza caused severe swelling on Letourneau’s cheek that grew worse throughout the bout. Letourneau suffered a potential left orbital fracture as a result of the blow and must be cleared by a doctor before she can return to competition.

The final UFC 174 competitor facing a six-month suspension is $100,000 bonus collector Tae Hyun Bang, who suffered a potential nasal fracture in his third-round knockout of Kajan Johnson. The Korean Top Team product must have his nose x-rayed and receive doctor clearance prior to returning to training and competition. Johnson, meanwhile, must avoid training for 45 days and active competition for 60 days after losing consciousness during the defeat.
