RFA 31 Weigh-in Results: Marunde, Smith Cleared for Welterweight Title Fight

Las Vegas-based Resurrection Fighting Alliance returns home Friday night for a championship double-header. Headlined by Ultimate Fighting Championship veterans Gilbert Smith and Bristol Marunde, the two welterweights will fight for Smith’s title in the middle of downtown Sin City.

First to the scale was challenger Marunde, who came in looking sharp. The local fighter easily made the 170-pound limit as he officially tipped the scale at 169.8 pounds. Not to be outdone, Smith looked chiseled out of marble as he came in at 170 pounds.

Zoila Frausto is set to take the women’s MMA world by storm again after a few years away. The only female champion in Bellator MMA history weighed 116.6 pounds ahead of her fight for the vacant RFA strawweight title, which was 1.6 pounds above the division’s. Her opponent, Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger, came in at 115 pounds.

RFA officials didn’t comment on whether she had to weigh-in a second time or if the title would only be made available to Jones-Lybarger.

RFA 31 will be televised live on AXS TV live beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. The event will be held at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center.
