A heavyweight showdown between Sengoku veteran Dave Herman and Alliance MMA product Joey Beltran has been added to the fight card of UFC 131, the promotion announced Thursday.
Though not yet officially announced by the promotion, UFC 131 is expected to go down June 11 from Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Likely headlining the event will be a confrontation between two of the best heavyweights in the world, as former UFC champion Brock Lesnar locks horns with heavy-handed Brazilian Junior dos Santos. Also expected for the event is a featherweight tilt between former two-time lightweight title challenger Kenny Florian and the once-beaten Diego Nunes, as “Ken-Flo” makes his 145-pound debut.

Beltran was last seen absorbing brutal low kicks courtesy of Pat Barry at UFC Fight Night 23 in January. A game “Mexicutioner” waded through the cracking blows to his lead thigh to make the fight competitive, but ultimately came up short in a judges' decision. That bout marked Beltran's second consecutive loss inside the Octagon, as he stumbled in September against Matt Mitrione in a “Fight of the Night” winning performance. Beltran, 29, owns a 2-2 record in the UFC and has finished all but one of his 11 career victims by either knockout or submission.
