Some might believe Crystal Vanessa Demopoulos’ disappointment after losing on the Week 2 Episode of 2020’s Dana White’s Contender Series may have been short-lived, since she could just return to her role as the Legacy Fighting Alliance strawweight champion. That assumption would be wrong. The loss still stings to this day, and that frustration is serving as a motivating factor heading into her first title defense in the main event of LFA 94.
“F*ck no,” said Demopoulos when asked if being a reigning champion softened the blow of her August defeat. “Yes I’m the LFA champ, but I’m pissed. I don’t want to ever lose in nothing. I want to go out there, I want to fight, [and] I want to win. I’m a warrior. That’s what we do. That’s who I am. I’m always fighting for everything in life. The thing that softened the blow, [and] the reason I didn’t go into some sort of deep hole of devastation, is because I know who I am as a person. I’m a good person. I love myself [and] everybody around me. I’m always trying to spread positivity and give people inspiration. That is what keeps me going every single day.”
In her exclusive conversation with Sherdog, the first and only LFA strawweight champion broke down her Oct. 30 fight with Lupita Godinez. She also revealed previous interactions with Godinez on Instagram in the summer, and talked about the lessons learned from losing for only the second time in her seven-fight career.
