‘World’s Strongest Man’ Mariusz Pudzianowski Decisions Sean McCorkle at KSW 24

Mariusz Pudzianowski had to wait a little less than four months to exact some revenge.

A five-time World’s Strongest Man winner, Pudzianowski (6-3, 6-2 KSW) earned a unanimous decision over Ultimate Fighting Championship castaway Sean McCorkle in the KSW 24 “Clash of the Giants” headliner on Saturday at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland. With that, the 36-year-old Polish super heavyweight avenged a June submission defeat to McCorkle (17-6, 1-1 KSW), who has dropped four of his past five fights.

In the co-main event, Karol Bedorf (10-2, 6-2 KSW) won for the ninth time in 10 outings, as he stopped 1996 Olympic gold medalist and Pride Fighting Championships veteran Pawel Nastula (5-5, 1-1 KSW) on a second-round technical knockout to capture the vacant KSW heavyweight crown.

Meanwhile, Jay Silva (9-8, 1-1 KSW) knocked out KSW middleweight champion Michal Materla with second-round punches in a non-title encounter, avenging a majority decision defeat to the Pole in May 2012. The loss brought an end to a streak of seven straight wins for Materla (19-4, 10-2 KSW).

In another non-title bout, KSW women’s strawweight champion Karolina Kowalkiewicz (4-0, 3-0 KSW) took a unanimous verdict from Invicta Fighting Championships alum Simona Soukupova. The defeat halted a modest two-fight winning streak for the 36-year-old Soukupova (4-3-1, 0-1 KSW).

Elsewhere, unbeaten lightweight prospect Mateusz Gamrot (5-0, 2-0 KSW) kept his perfect professional record intact, as he captured a unanimous decision from “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 9 finalist Andre Winner. A Team Rough House export, the 31-year-old Winner (15-8-1, 0-1 KSW) had won three of his previous four bouts since being released by the UFC following consecutive losses to Nik Lentz, Dennis Siver and Anthony Njokuani inside the Octagon.

Finally, Marcin Rozalski (4-2, 4-1 KSW) submitted Pawel Slowinski (0-1, 0-1 KSW) with a rear-naked choke in a heavyweight scrap; Borys Mankowski (14-5-1, 3-2 KSW) stopped King of the Cage veteran Ben Lagman (6-5, 0-2 KSW) on second-round punches in a welterweight tilt; and a featherweight clash pairing Anzor Azhiev with Artur Sowinski ended prematurely after an accidental clash of heads in the first round.
