Undefeated Austin Lingo Routs Chris Hatley in Legacy Fighting Alliance 73 Headliner

Austin Lingo saw no need in a feeling-out process.

The undefeated Fortis MMA prospect authored the fourth sub-minute stoppage of his career, as he wiped out Chris Hatley with punches in the Legacy Fighting Alliance 73 main event on Friday at The Bomb Factory in Dallas. Hatley (6-1, 1-1 LFA) succumbed to blows 25 seconds into Round 1.

Lingo (7-0, 6-0 LFA) let his hands fly, staggered his 22-year-old adversary with an overhand right, dropped him with another chopping right hand and prompted intervention from referee Aaron Menard with subsequent ground-and-pound. Hatley completed a takedown on Menard in the residual haze of his being finished.

In the co-headliner, Blitz Sport MMA export Hailey Cowan leaned on a punishing clinch, repeated takedowns and heavy ground-and-pound, as she cruised to a unanimous decision over Jessica Middleton across three rounds at 125 pounds. All three cageside judges scored it the same: 30-27 for Cowan (4-1, 4-1 LFA), who has rattled off four consecutive victories.

Middleton (5-5, 0-1 LFA) excelled in standup exchanges but failed to manage the distance. Cowan drew her into close quarters and either smashed her with knees and elbows or executed takedowns. Once the action spilled onto the canvas, the 27-year-old unleashed a barrage of punches, elbows and hammerfists, forcing Middleton into survival mode. A few armbar attempts from the bottom were all she could muster.

The loss snapped a two-fight winning streak for Middleton.

Meanwhile, Fortis MMA export Elijah Johns posted his second win in as many appearances, as he cut down Bellator MMA veteran Aaron Webb with a knee strike in the first round of their featherweight pairing. Webb (2-3, 0-2 LFA) bowed out 26 seconds into Round 1.

Johns (4-1, 2-1 LFA) clocked his counterpart with a sizzling right hand, pushed him toward the fence and fired a knee into his face. Webb hit the deck dazed in confused, with referee Don Turnage arriving on the scene to prevent further damage.

In other action, Victor Altamirano (6-0) laid claim to a unanimous decision over Joao Antonio Camilo Neto (5-3) in a three-round flyweight confrontation, earning 30-27, 30-27 and 29-27 marks from the cageside judges; Kyle Estrada (10-4) was awarded a majority decision -- 28-28, 30-26, 30-26 -- over Cody Freeman (3-3) in a three-round bantamweight encounter; Brant Moore (4-0) took a unanimous decision from Edmilson Freitas (8-4) in a three-round lightweight affair, drawing 29-28 scores across the board; and Fernando Garcia (6-1) eked out a split decision -- 30-27, 28-29, 29-28 -- over Marquis Smith (3-5) in a three-round catchweight clash at 140 pounds.
