UFC Vet Norman Parke Steps Up to Face Borys Mankowski at KSW 47 on March 23

Irishman Norman Parke has agreed to replace the injured Dricus Du Plessis against Borys Mankowski at KSW 47, the Polish promotion announced Tuesday. The nature of Du Plessis’ injury is unknown.

Parke will fight for the first time ever at 170 pounds at the event. Previously, “Stormin’ Norman” fought as a lightweight under the UFC banner and around Europe. The Northern Ireland native went 5-3-1 within the Las Vegas-based promotion, earning wins against the likes of Naoyuki Kotani and Reza Madadi, among others. Since leaving the UFC, the former KSW lightweight title challenger has compiled a 4-1 mark with one no contest.

Former KSW welterweight champion Mankowski is trying to bounce back after back-to-back defeats. After losing a decision to former KSW middleweight champion Mamed Khalidov, he was stopped by Roberto Soldic at KSW 41. Mankowski was supposed to have competed at KSW 46 against Bruce Souto, but an injury forced him out the event.

KSW 47 will go down in Lodz, Poland on March 23. The main event features a champ vs champ battle between KSW light heavyweight title holder Tomasz Narkun and Englishman KSW heavyweight champion Philip De Fries.
