UFC Vet John Howard Routs Journeyman Roger Carroll in Victorious CES MMA Return

Howard returned to the CES MMA organization for the first time since 2013 and cruised to a unanimous decision over Carroll in the CES MMA 46 headliner on Friday at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island. All three cageside judges saw it for “Doomsday,” as the Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Series of Fighting veteran claimed 30-26, 30-27 and 30-27 marks on the scorecards.
Nothing in Carroll’s armory posed a threat to Howard (25-13). The
34-year-old flurried with power punches in all three rounds, ruled
the clinch and executed repeated takedowns, pounding and passing
whenever the action spilled onto the floor. Carroll (16-15) fired
on the occasional submission and pestered his counterpart with heel
strikes to the hips and lower back, but the fight never once felt
like it would go his way.
In the featherweight co-main event, Team Sityodtong representative Dinis Paiva disposed of Brandon Seyler with second-round punches and extended his winning streak to three fights. Seyler (7-6-1) succumbed to blows 3:08 into Round 2.
Seyler has lost three of his last four bouts.
Meanwhile, Tri-Force prospect Gary Balletto Jr. submitted Sharif Jones with a rear-naked choke in the third round of their welterweight showcase. Jones (3-3) bowed out 3:17 into Round 3, as he lost for the third time in four appearances.
It was competitive from start to finish, the confrontation marked by seismic shifts in momentum. Balletto threatened with a kneebar at the end of the first round, only to see Jones bounce back in the second, where he unloaded with crisp, multi-punch combinations to the body and head. Balletto found another gear in Round 3, where he chased down the Philadelphia native with punches and buried him with a barrage of knee strikes to the head and body. Jones collapsed under the assault and allowed the 22-year-old to advance to his back. Before long, the choke was in place, the tapout becoming inevitable.
Balletto (5-1) has won five fights in a row.
In other action, Rico DiSciullo submitted Seth Basler with a Peruvian necktie 2:59 into the first round of their bantamweight scrap; Jonathan Lemke captured a unanimous verdict over Josh LaBerge in a three-round showdown at 155 pounds, drawing 29-28 marks from all three judges; Justin Sumter submitted Shedrick Goodridge with a rear-naked choke 1:56 into the first round of their middleweight tilt; John Gotti III struck Johnny Adams into submission 3:50 into the first round of their welterweight pairing; Hamzah Marquis Brewster stopped Raymond Yanez with a body punch 2:17 into the first round of their encounter at 135 pounds; and Pat McCrohan took care of Buck Pineau with punches 4:56 into the first round of their catchweight clash at 200 pounds.

unfazed -- to pick apart the Bellator MMA alum, operating behind a
punishing jab and a probing straight left. He floored Seyler three

the end. Paiva went on to knock down the 28-year-old with a pair of
left hands, prompting referee John English to act.
