UFC Uruguay Medical Suspensions: Mike Perry, Two Others Get Six-Month Terms

As expected, Mike Perry received a six-month medical suspension following his loss to Vicente Luque at UFC Uruguay on Saturday.

Perry suffered a broken nose in the third round of the welterweight co-headliner and underwent surgery to repair the injury shortly thereafter. Images of the mangled nose went viral in the aftermath of the bout.

“Platinum” is suspended for 180 days pending clearance from an otolaryngologist. At a minimum, he is suspended 60 days with 45 days of no contact. Luque, meanwhile, will be sidelined 45 days with 30 days no contact.

The Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) oversaw Saturday’s event in Montevideo, Uruguay, and recently released medical suspensions from the event. UFC Uruguay saw Valentina Shevchenko retain her flyweight crown with a five-round verdict against Liz Carmouche in the evening’s headliner. Carmouche received a 30-day sit with 21 days of no contact, while Shevchenko was suspended 14 days with seven days of no contact.

Two other fighters received potential 180-day layoffs: Tecia Torres (left forearm) and Geraldo de Freitas Jr. (nose).
