Ultimate Fighting Championship alumnus Bart Palaszewski has retired from mixed martial arts competition.

The 30-year-old last Friday announced the news via Twitter, leaving the sport with 53 pro bouts to his credit.

Palaszewski began his career in 2002 with four consecutive defeats but responded with 29 victories in his next 33 outings. “Bartimus” joined the defunct International Fight League in 2006 and exited the organization with an 8-4 record before signing with World Extreme Cagefighting in 2008.

The Polish-American went on to compile a 4-3 record in the WEC cage, notably scoring wins over “Ultimate Fighter 1” alum Alex Karalexis and future Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight titlist Anthony Pettis. Palaszewski joined the UFC after the WEC was absorbed in 2011, making a successful Octagon debut against Tyson Griffin before dropping bouts to Hatsu Hioki, Diego Nunes and Cole Miller to end his career.
