Visa issues have forced some significant alterations to the UFC Fight Night "Machida vs. Romero" lineup.
According to a release from the Las Vegas-based promotion, “an issue affecting the Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs visa system and a technical problem with the Consular Consolidated Database” has affected 12 fighters scheduled to compete at the event. Four bouts have been removed from the June 27 card, including the originally scheduled co-main event between Rick Story and Erick Silva. The UFC is in the process of “discussing options” for the two welterweights at this time.

As a result, several bouts have been added to the June 27 event, which takes place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla. Fights added to the nine-bout card include: Alex Oliveira vs. Joe Merritt at welterweight; Leandro Silva vs. Lewis Gonzalez at welterweight; and another 170-pound clash between newcomers Steve Montgomery and Tony Sims. An additional bout is expected to be announced in the coming days.
UFC Fight Night is headlined by a middleweight clash between Lyoto Machida and Yoel Romero. The evening’s new co-main event will be a welterweight showdown between Lorenz Larkin and Santiago Ponzinibbio.
