Lyoto Machida, Renan Barao, Erick Silva and Vitor Miranda finished their respective bouts at UFC Fight Night “Machida vs. Dollaway” and took home $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonuses in victory.
No “Fight of the Night” award was issued. The Fox Sports 1-televised card was held at Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Brazil.
Machida needed just 62 seconds to finish C.B. Dollaway in his main event bout, successfully bouncing back from his unanimous decision defeat against Chris Weidman at UFC 175 in July. Saturday’s award is “The Dragon’s” eighth time being acknowledged for “Fight of the Night,” “Knockout of the Night,” or the recently created “Performance of the Night.”
Barao put his loss against T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 173 behind him, submitting Mitch Gagnon late in the third-round of their co-main event fight. The former UFC bantamweight champion secured a takedown before sinking in an arm-triangle choke, forcing the Canadian to tap. Barao walked away with $50,000 for his efforts.
Silva also utilized the arm-triangle choke to defeat Mike Rhodes and earn a “Performance of the Night” bonus. The fight was Silva’s first since losing to Matt Brown at UFC Fight Night “Brown vs. Silva” in May and is the Brazilian’s third consecutive fight in which the UFC has deemed worthy of $50,000.
Early on the preliminary portion of the card, Miranda weathered the storm of Jake Collier’s grappling attack to come back and finish the former Resurrection Fighting Alliance competitor via head kick. “Lex Luthor” seemed to be having some trouble creating distance between himself and the Pit MMA-product, before storming back and finishing the fight one second before the first-round concluded. The 35-year-old was awarded the fourth and final “Performance of the Night” title for the victory.
