UFC Fight Night Bonuses: Ferguson, dos Anjos, Lamas, Silva de Andrade Receive $50K

Tony Ferguson and Rafael dos Anjos maintained a ridiculous offensive pace in the high altitude of Mexico City, and each man pocketed a well deserved $50,000 “Fight of the Night” bonus for his work in the Octagon on Saturday night.

Ferguson defeated dos Anjos via unanimous decision in the UFC Fight Night 98 headliner, winning on the basis of volume, creativity and durability. Nearly every time dos Anjos landed a hard shot, “El Cucuy” shook it off and responded with his unpredictable, multi-faceted offensive arsenal. Ferguson has now won nine straight bouts in the Octagon.

Elsewhere, Ricardo Lamas garnered a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” check for tapping out submission specialist Charles Oliveira in a featured featherweight duel. Although his opponent missed weight by nine pounds, Lamas was able to escape a pair of first-round submission attempts before finishing “Do Bronx” with a rear-naked choke at the 2:13 mark of round two.

Finally, Douglas Silva de Andrade received the evening’s other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” award for his entertaining third-round technical knockout triumph over Enrique Briones at bantamweight. The combatants traded willingly throughout the contest, but Andrade struck the decisive blows, finishing his foe with a standing elbow and spinning backfist 2:33 into the third frame.
