Glaico Franca vs. Gregor Gillespie

Round 1

Franca backs up Gillespie toward the fence with long, hard jabs, then stuffs a pair of shots as the New Yorker tries to bring the fight to the floor. Gillespie goes after the takedown again, this time running Franca across the cage to work on the double-leg at the fence. Franca resists at first but soon gets dumped to get the ground. The Brazilian bounces back to his feet, Gillespie still clung to his legs as they enter the third minute of round one. Gillespie switches to a single-leg and pulls Franca away from the wall, absorbing several hard elbow strikes to the side of the head along the way. Now cut open, Gillespie spins to take Franca’s back with a rear waistlock and then pulls him backward to the mat. Gillespie secures back-mount with both hooks in, then begins working to soften up Franca with punches from behind. Franca bucks and rolls, loosening Gillespie’s position before suddenly popping out the back door. The lightweights scramble back up with 40 seconds on the clock. Gillespie connects with a hard right hand, shoots in behind it and finishes the round with another takedown.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Gillespie
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Gillespie
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Gillespie

Round 2

Gillespie pops Franca with a jab and follows up with the same hard right hand that he landed at the end of round one. Franca tags him back, then tries to blitz as Gillespie staggers backward, but Gillespie changes levels and uses Franca’s momentum to execute another takedown. Franca is restless underneath and gets back to his feet much quicker than in the previous round. Gillespie sticks a few more jabs as the 155ers circle in the center; Franca responds with a hard right straight that sends Gillespie shooting for another takedown. Franca defends with his back against the fence, keeping a wide base as Gillespie works to pull the legs out from under him. Gillespie keeps working and completes the takedown with 90 seconds on the clock, this time landing in side control on Franca’s left. Gillespie jams his opponent up against the base of the fence to rough him up with shoulder shrugs and grinding elbows for the remainder of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Gillespie
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Gillespie
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Gillespie

Round 3

Gillespie wastes little time before shooting on Franca’s legs and driving the Brazilian backward to the wall. Franca fights off a high single-leg attempt, then looks to frame up a standing keylock when Gillespie switches to a double. While Gillespie is working to isolate the arm, Gillespie pulls out his legs and drags him to the floor. Gillespie passes to full mount and stays down tight, chest to chest, pinning Franca to the mat in the center of the cage. Franca takes some palm strikes to the side of the head, a few elbows, but he keeps bucking and squirming until he’s able to reclaim half guard. Gillespie continues to grind away with short punches and elbows as they enter the final 90 seconds of the bout. He takes full mount again and cracks Franca on the jaw with a slashing elbow. With 30 seconds left, Gillespie sits up and begins dropping punches, maybe looking for a late finish. Franca rolls over and covers up, and he survives to hear the final horn.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Gillespie (30-27 Gillespie)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-8 Gillespie (30-26 Gillespie)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Gillespie (30-26 Gillespie)

The Official Result

Vicente Luque vs. Hector Urbina

Round 1

Luque stings Urbina with his first left hand of the fight, then fights off the American’s hurried takedown attempt. Urbina looks to have cleared the cobwebs, as he separates from Luque and slugs back with heavy punches. Luque decides to engage in the firefight and unloads a lovely four-punch combination which includes a nasty uppercut. Urbina backs up to the wall again, and this time Luque levels him with a picture-perfect overhand right to the jaw. Urbina falls to the ground in a heap, his left leg folded awkwardly underneath him, and referee Fernando Portella rushes in to stop the fight.

The Official Result

Vicente Luque def. Hector Urbina via KO (Punch) R1 1:00

Alan Patrick vs. Stevie Ray

Round 1

Patrick shoots in behind a left hand and runs Ray to the floor in the opening 20 seconds, but Ray quickly posts and stands. “Nuguette” keeps hold of the Scotsman and drags him back to the floor, but again Ray pops back to his feet. Ray defends the next takedown attempt and stuffs Patrick to the ground, then steps over to full mount. When Patrick threatens to escape, Ray peels off for an armbar attempt. Patrick stacks him up against the fence and slowly extracts his arm, leaving Ray on his back. Now it’s Patrick back on top with half the round remaining, but Ray is the more active fighter, throwing punches and elbows from the bottom. Ray throws up a triangle, can’t catch the rangy Brazilian, and now Patrick works to pass the half guard of “Braveheart.” Patrick has an arm-triangle choke framed up, but he loses it as Ray kicks him back to full guard. Ray continues to pepper Patrick with short punches from the bottom in the final half minute.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Patrick
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Patrick
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Patrick

Round 2

Patrick comes out shooting and again brings Ray to the canvas with little difficulty. The Brazilian jams Ray’s left side up against the wall and gets to work from side control on the right. Ray pivots away from the fence and puts Patrick back in half guard, where Patrick uses his length to nearly set up a crucifix position. Just as Ray looks to be caught in the bad position, he kicks up his legs and puts Patrick back in guard. Patrick catches Ray trying to escape and nearly takes his back, but Ray twists around and puts his back on the ground again. With 90 seconds on the clock and not much happening on the ground, referee Mario Yamasaki brings the fighters back to their feet. Ray waits for Patrick to shoot again and tries to catch him in a guillotine choke, but Patrick dives to the ground and pulls his head loose. Before he can get up, however, Ray climbs on the back of “Nuguette” and works to soften him up for a choke. The choke never comes, but Ray lands a good 10 or 12 right hands to the face before the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Patrick
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Patrick
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Patrick

Round 3

Patrick clips Ray on the temple with an overhand left, shoots in behind the punch and spins Ray to the floor with a rear waistlock. Ray shifts underneath and puts Patrick in full guard as they roll over to the base of the fence. It’s a much slower pace here in the first half of the final round, with Patrick’s already limited ground-and-pound having disappeared almost entirely as he focuses on pinning Ray to the canvas. Ray rolls to his left, away from the wall, and tries to frame up a kimura after Patrick moves into deep half guard. Patrick counters with a kimura of his own, but Ray does well to keep his arm parallel to the mat, and Patrick’s progress is blocked by the fence. Ray rolls his eyes as Patrick continues to hold down his arm in the final 40 seconds. Patrick tries to switch to a straight armbar but can’t get the submission before time runs out.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Patrick (30-27 Patrick)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Patrick (30-27 Patrick)

The Official Result

Alan Patrick def. Stevie Ray via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28) R3 5:00

Erick Silva vs. Luan Chagas

Round 1

Maia works off his back foot, flicking out jabs when the oncoming Chagas steps into the pocket. A body kick from Silva backs up his countryman a few steps, but Chagas fires back with a right hand to the chin that gives Silva pause for thought. Chagas keeps pressing forward, now as a southpaw, swinging and missing with a two-punch combo. The next left hook from Chagas puts Silva on his seat, but Silva powers back up to be pressed against the fence. The welterweights separate with half the round remaining; Chagas continues to come forward and slaps Silva’s face with a high kick. Silva puts a few solid low kicks on Chagas’ lead leg, but Chagas finds the mark again with a punching combination upstairs. Silva sprawls wildly on a late takedown attempt, drawing a grin from Chagas. Ducking under a roundhouse kick, Silva pops up and decks Chagas with a right hand on the turn-around. Chagas drops to his back and Silva tries unsuccessfully to pound him out before the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Silva
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Silva
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Silva

Round 2

Chagas’ first low kick of the round lands right on Silva’s cup; thankfully, Silva only needs a few seconds to collect himself and resume the fight. Almost as soon as time is called, Chagas catches a low kick and forces Silva to the ground. Silva sits up as Chagas tries to pounce, then sweeps Chagas underneath and sets up in his guard. Now it’s Silva working from top position with over four minutes left on the clock, while Chagas keeps a tight guard underneath. Silva stands over his prone opponent, looking to reposition, but when he kneels back on the mat, he’s tangled up in Chagas’ guard. Chagas gets to his knees and Silva uses the opportunity to try for back-mount. Chagas stands before Silva can establish the position, and now the 170-pounders are back up with 2:45 remaining. An uppercut from Chagas drops Silva to the mat, but when Chagas tries to follow up with ground-and-pound, Silva ties up from the bottom. Chagas slowly works his way to side control, then full mount as they hit the two-minute warning. When he attempts an armbar, however, Silva defends it with ease and claims top position. Silva works his way onto Chagas’ back and tries to apply a rear-naked choke, but he runs out of time.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Chagas
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Chagas
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Chagas

Round 3

After a slow opening minute, Chagas dives for a single-leg takedown at the fence, but it’s defended well by Silva. The welterweights clinch for a moment until they’re broken up by referee Osiris Maia. Left hook lands for Chagas, but Silva reclaims some ground with a two-piece of his own. Chagas plods forward, hands low; he seems to be landing the heavier punches, despite Silva looking the fresher of the two. Chagas eats an uppercut, a left hook, swings back and slugs Silva with a hard left hook. Chagas dives for a takedown, more of an ankle pick, and gets left kneeling on the canvas. In one swift move, Silva steps over to take Chagas’ back and sinks in a deep rear-naked choke. Chagas taps out almost immediately.

The Official Result

Erick Silva def. Luan Chagas via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R3 3:57

Jussier da Silva vs. Dustin Ortiz

Round 1

The flyweights trade leg kicks before getting tangled up in an exchange and dropping to their knees in the whizzer position. “Formiga” comes out on top and advances to side control, but Ortiz executes a roll underneath and reclaims guard. Back to side control goes da Silva, working near the center of the cage. The Brazilian stays tight in the position, but his top-heavy head-and-arm control allows Ortiz to flip him over. Now it’s Ortiz on top, jabbing at da Silva’s ribs with short right hands. Da Silva grabs for Ortiz’s head and arms from the bottom, trying to slow the offense or maybe catch a submission. Ortiz’s offense drops off in the final minute, but he manages to keep da Silva on the bottom until the final few seconds of the round

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 da Silva
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 da Silva
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10

Round 2

Ortiz swings a right hand and steps into the pocket, then has to disengage as da Silva looks to tie up and trip. The next time he comes inside, it’s Ortiz looking for a throw, but “Formiga” stuffs it and rides the American to the ground in the center of the cage. Ortiz flips over to put his back on the mat, but he’s immediately in danger again as da Silva threatens with an arm-triangle choke. Ortiz rolls and gives up his back, and Formiga wastes no time in attaching himself with a body triangle. Da Silva begins fishing for a rear-naked choke with more than half the round still remaining. Ortiz is defending well, using both hands to fight off the choke, but he can’t free himself from the body triangle. Ortiz does manage to land a couple over-the-shoulder punches; da Silva maintains back-mount until the end of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 da Silva
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-8 da Silva
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 da Silva

Round 3

Ortiz is on the attack in the opening minute of the final frame, constantly bouncing toward Formiga to throw punches and knees when the opportunity arises. One he gets too close, however, da Silva wraps up a standing rear waistlock and then climbs on to Ortiz’s back. The Brazilian rides Ortiz to the ground near the fence and begins hunting for a rear-naked choke. Ortiz rolls to his knees with da Silva still on his back, an uncomfortable position considering Formiga’s tight body triangle. Ortiz sits down and punches over his shoulder until da Silva grabs for the choke again, forcing Ortiz on the defensive. Formiga slaps on a neck crank in the last 30 seconds, but it draws only a Mutombo-esque finger wag from Ortiz, who escapes the hold and flips over to finish the fight in top position.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 da Silva (30-27 da Silva)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 da Silva (30-26 da Silva)

Rani Yahya vs. Michinori Tanaka

Round 1

Yahya catches Tanaka off-balance after throwing a body kick and stuffs the Japanese prospect to the floor near the fence. Yahya pounces and immediately locks up an arm-triangle choke, though Tanaka gets a hand inside Yahya’s bicep to provide a little breathing room. Yahya keeps squeezing, slowly tightening the choke, while Tanaka waits calmly underneath, drawing in deep breaths. Eventually, Yahya has to release the choke and Tanaka explodes into top position. The pace slows in the latter half of the round, as Yahya wraps up Tanaka from the bottom and neither man is able to get much going in the offense department.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Yahya
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Yahya
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Yahya

Round 2

Tanaka gets a kick to the groin in the first 20 seconds of the round, but he recovers quickly and the bantamweights get back to business. Yahya looks to clinch and trip Tanaka back to the mat, but Tanaka executes a nice throw to come out on top. The fighters climb back to their feet, Yahya trying to keep hold of Tanaka and drag him back down immediately. Tanaka breaks up the rear waistlock and rolls Yahya into a crucifix position, but when he grabs for a rear-naked choke, Yahya explodes out of the sub attempt and takes top position. Tanaka works back to his feet, Yahya still glued to him, and the Japanese fighter tries a guillotine. Yahya pulls his head free and drags Tanaka back to the floor. They’re only there a few seconds before Tanaka stands and hip-tosses Yahya to the bottom. Yahya hunts for a triangle in the closing seconds, can’t make it happen.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Yahya
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Yahya
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Yahya

Round 3

Tanaka steps into the pocket to land a body shot, allowing Yahya to wrap him up and bring him to the ground within 30 seconds. Once again, Tanaka is able to roll over and take top position, then posture up and mash Yahya’s face with right hands. It’s not enough activity for referee Fernando Portella, who brings the fighters back to their feet with three minutes remaining. Tanaka steps in and connects with a solid right hand, then wraps up Yahya and trips him to the mat. Tanaka gets the crucifix position again, trapping Yahya’s right arm between his legs, but Yahya rolls into it and nearly claims top position. Back up come the 135ers, now inside the final minute of the bout. Yahya changes levels to try one last double-leg attempt, then switches to a rear waistlock as Tanaka stands against the fence. Tanaka pulls Yahya down to his knees and goes for the crucifix one last time, socking the Brazilian with some late hammerfists to the sides of the head.

Sherdog Scores

Gilbert Burns vs. Michel Prazeres

Round 1

Prazeres catches a kick from Burns and pushes the off-balance “Durinho” to the ground in the center of the cage, landing a straight right hand in the process. Burns tries to lure Prazeres to the ground, can’t, and instead stands up to circle the outside. Prazeres gives chase and walks into a cracking hook from Burns, who can’t capitalize on the knockdown before “Tractor” powers back to his feet. Prazeres gets a kick on the cup but quickly recovers from the inadvertant foul, and the lightweights are back to work with three minutes remaining. Burns connects with a left hook, jumps into range and lands a knee to the body, then circles away before Prazeres can retaliate. Prazeres wraps up Burns at the waist and hits a quick trip takedown, but he can’t keep Burns on the floor.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Burns
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Burns
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Burns

Round 2

Burns’ outstretched hand sticks Prazeres with a finger in the left eye during the first exchange of the round. Prazeres doesn’t seem too badly affected by the foul, and the fight resumes within a minute. They fight for another 20 or 30 seconds before Burns once more kicks Prazeres on the cup. Burns apologizes for the foul when the fight gets back underway. “Durinho” slips to the ground and invites Prazeres to come down, but Prazeres wants nothing to do with the BJJ black belt’s guard. Burns dives for a takedown, gets stuffed and stands up right away to knee Prazeres in the face. The pace slows further in the middle of the round, with neither lightweight being particularly active in the striking department. Prazeres stuffs a late takedown attempt and steps forward to bounce an overhand right off Burns’ face. Burns counters the next punch with a nice hook, but he looks to be fading as he draws a deep breath and lets his hands drop to his waist.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Prazeres
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Prazeres
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Prazeres

Round 3

Prazeres backs up Burns to the fence and hurts him with a hard kick to the body. Prazeres stuffs him to the ground and tries to pound him out, but Burns slows the attack by controlling Prazeres’ wrists. Prazeres complains to referee Osiris Maia that Burns is grabbing inside his gloves. Seconds later, Prazeres yanks his hands free and slugs Burns’ face with a hard shot. Prazeres allows Burns to stand with about 3:30 remaining in the fight. Burns circles to his left around the edge of the cage, hands low but still jogging in place in front of his opponent. Burns whiffs on a spinning attack and gets popped with a pair of punches to the body. Down to the final two minutes now, and Prazeres is just stalking Burns around the cage. Burns occasionally bursts toward his opponent with a knee or punch, but Prazeres continues to land the more accurate stikes. Burns comes alive in the final 30 seconds, winging hard combinations at Prazeres, whose hands are now dropping low, too. Prazeres gets the final word, however, as he grabs a kick and runs Burns to the ground in the center of the cage.

Godofredo Castro vs. Mike de la Torre

Round 1

Castro catches de la Torre with a spinning kick to the head, then follows up with hooks and uppercuts, a few of which seem to get through. “Pepey” wraps up de la Torre and looks to drag his wounded opponent to the floor near the fence, but de la Torre looks to have cleared the cobwebs as he fights off the takedown. Castro presses forward and slugs de la Torre with three huge right hands. De La Torre somehow stays standing to take another right hook on the jaw, so Castro wraps him up in a rear waistlock and pulls him to the floor. Castro locks up back-mount with a body triangle and begins fishing for a rear-naked choke, while de la Torre rests on his knees. Castro rolls de la Torre onto his side and slaps on the RNC again. This time, the choke is tight, and de la Torre has no choice but to tap out.

The Official Result

Godofredo Castro def. Mike de la Torre via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R1

Thiago Santos vs. Eric Spicely

Round 1

Santos sprawls on Spicely’s first pair of takedown attempts, but the Brazilian willingly comes to the ground on the second try and sets up in Spicely’s half guard. Spicely throws up rubber guard, switches to an omoplata and tries to use the sub to sweep, but “Marreta” stacks him up and escapes to his feet. Spicely lands his next takedown attempt and now leans right to left across Santos’ body from half guard, looking to catch the far arm. Spicely briefly looks to take full mount, can’t get it and goes back to work on the arm instead. Santos sees an opening to stand, but as he does, Spicely follows and attaches himself to the Brazilian’s back with a body triangle. Spicely whips his right arm across Santos’ throat and squeezes tight on the rear-naked choke. Santos taps the canvas in submission, leaving the Brazilian crowd in stunned silence at the massive upset.

The Official Result

Eric Spicely def. Thiago Santos via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R1 2:58

Paul Felder vs. Francisco Trinaldo

Round 1

Felder takes the center of the cage and pushes out toward Trinaldo with snappy low kicks and jabs. After a minute of backing up, the southpaw “Massaranduba” presses back toward Felder, loading up his left hand. Trinaldo lays a hard kick across Felder’s body and gets grazed by a simultaneous spinning backfist. Trinaldo keeps coming forward, pushing Felder against the fence and scoring with a pair of hard knees to the midsection. Felder tries to escape as they fight inside the last two minutes of round one, but Trinaldo has the American pinned to the fence with an underhook. Both men score with slashing elbows in the pocket before they tie up again. They disengage in the final minute, and Felder scores with a body kick as he moves Trinaldo backward at the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Trinaldo
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Trinaldo
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Trinaldo

Round 2

Felder snaps off a few hard low kicks, but he’s still being backed up by Trinaldo and his whipping left hands. “Massaranduba” connects with a solid left hook, but he takes a right hand in return from Felder that opens up a cut on the outside of the Brazilian’s left eye. Felder steps into the pocket, takes a knee to the gut and gets tripped to the ground. Trinaldo tries to stack him up, landing some ground-and-pound in the process which cuts open Felder near the right eye. Felder tries to sit up and stand but has to put his back on the mat again when Trinaldo threatens with a guillotine. Down to the final 90 seconds of the round, Trinaldo looks to wrap up Felder’s neck again, then briefly considers trying for back-mount. Instead, the Brazilian keeps a rear waistlock as Felder stands and works to trip him back down. Felder stays standing and exits the clinch with a spinning elbow just before time expires.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Trinaldo
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Trinaldo
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Trinaldo

Round 3

Felder spends the first minute of the round chasing a dancing Trinaldo around the outside, unable to find the range to land a high kick or power punch. Trinaldo just keeps hopping around the edge of the cage, sliding out of the way of Felder’s strikes. Trinaldo finally pauses to throw a punch and gets a knee to the body in the process. The lightweights tie up at the fence, where referee Osiris Maia pauses the fight in a hurry. The cut on Felder’s right eyebrow has turned into a gaping wound, and it only takes the cageside physician a few seconds to recommend a stoppage. Referee Maia waves off the bout, and Francisco Trinaldo picks up the win by way of technical knockout.

The Official Result

Francisco Trinaldo def. Paul Felder via TKO (Doctor Stoppage) R3 2:25

Roy Nelson vs. Antonio Silva

Round 1

Silva lands an early kick to the body and then circles to his right around the edge of the cage, while Nelson follows from the center. “Bigfoot” comes out to the middle and nearly chops out Nelson’s lead leg with a low kick. Nelson steps in to throw a punch and gets cut off by Silva with a step knee to the gut. Halfway through the round, the heavyweights continue their cautious circling. Silva looks to hit Nelson with knees to the body, followed by power punches, while Nelson continues to load up his big right hand. Nelson tries a single-leg takedown, forcing Silva to turn his back in an attempt to escape. Nelson stays with his opponent, switching to a rear waistlock and running the big man against the fence. Silva turns around to face Nelson, who remains clung tight to the Brazilian’s upper body in the slow-going final minute of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Nelson
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Silva
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Silva

Round 2

Silva opens with a leg kick and then catches the off-balance Nelson with a pair of follow-up punches. Nelson presses toward “Bigfoot,” who connects with a kick to the body. Referee John McCarthy warns Silva for leaving his lead hand outstretched with open fingers as Nelson pushes toward him. Nelson catches Silva with a short right hand as the Brazilian throws a kick. Bigfoot’s next kick lands right on Nelson’s groin, and referee McCarthy pauses the fight momentarily. Nelson recovers and they’re back to business with three minutes remaining. Silva tries to take advantage by blitzing Nelson on the restart, but Nelson uses underhooks to slow the attack and clinch with Silva on the fence. Silva covers up as Nelson tries an overhand left-right uppercut combination, blocking both punches. Silva tries a step-in knee and gets his head snapped back by a straight right hand over the top. Down to the last minute of round two, Nelson catches Silva throwing a low kick and blasts him with a counter uppercut. Silva drops to his back and Nelson stands over him, knocking him unconscious with four or five follow-up shots. Referee McCarthy is late on the stoppage, and Nelson shows his frustration by kicking the official in the posterior after the bell.

The Official Result

Roy Nelson def. Antonio Silva via KO (Punches) R2 4:10

Renan Barao vs. Phillipe Nover

Round 1

Both featherweights come out firing jabs, and both men land. Barao’s first low kick strays to the groin of Nover, who doesn’t want to pause despite being given the option by referee John McCarthy. Barao’s leg kicks are coming in hard and fast, and he follows up one chop with a nifty three-punch combination. Nover catches Barao with a counter left hook in the next exchange; Barao slips to the ground momentarily but springs right back up. The Nova Uniao fighter continues to chew up Nover’s lead leg with kicks both inside and out. Nover pushes out from the center, but before he can strike, Barao steps off to the side and finds a lovely angle to land an uppercut. Nover sticks a jab but takes a pair of hard leg kicks in return. Barao closes the round with a body shot, yanking his leg back before Nover can latch on.

Sherdog Scores

Round 2

Barao gets back to work with his leg kicks in the first minute of round two, mixing in speedy punching combinations up top when he comes close enough. Nover gets knocked back a step by a left hook, and soon after, Barao comes leaping at the “TUF” veteran with a flying knee. Barao blocks a high kick, slips his head off-center as Nover pumps his jab, dodges a left hand and barely misses Nover with a counter hook. The featherweights tangle in the collar tie and both connect with solid punches, Nover looking to get the better of the exchange with his left hand. The activity drops off a bit in the final minute, but Barao snatches up a late body kick and uses it to run Nover to the ground.

Sherdog Scores

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Barao

Nover posts and slowly works his way back up against the fence, eventually separating from the Brazilian and circling back to the middle. Nover tries to get some strikes going here, but Barao quickly closes the gap and holds him against the wall. The featherweights separate and Nover finds a home for a short elbow in the ensuing exchange. Barao looks to be fading a bit as he breathes heavily and misses with a wild overhand right. Nover presses into the pocket and lands a hook to the body, but Barao gets him back with a clinch knee to the gut. Barao catches Nover coming forward again and changes levels for another takedown at the 30-second mark. Nover is quickly back on his feet, fighting Barao in the whizzer. Mario Yamasaki is the referee for tonight’s 140-pound main event, with judges Guilherme Bravo, Sal D’Amato and Hallison Pontes scoring at cageside. Cyborg moves swiftly across the cage and plunges a right hand into Lansberg’s face before shoving the Swede’s back against the fence. The Brazilian grabs Lansberg’s head in the Thai plum and drives two or three hard knees to the body. Ninety seconds in, Cyborg continues to hold Lansberg against the cage, while Lansberg clings on to Cyborg’s right wrist to slow the attack. Cyborg releases for a moment, lands a quick combination and then comes back to the clinch to shoot more knees to Lansberg’s body. The fighters split for a few seconds, but as soon as Cyborg begins throwing strikes, Lansberg wants to clinch again. Cyborg pushes her to the fence, then whips her to the ground and steps over to full mount. Lansberg rolls onto her side while Cyborg rains down punches from above, now with under a minute left in the round. Lansberg rolls toward Cyborg and works back to her feet, only to be muslced against the cage again. Cyborg snaps back Lansberg’s head with a right hand, and the Swede heads back to her corner with a bloody nose.

Round 2

Lansberg gets backed up to the fence, where she covers up as Cyborg whips a few hard kicks into her body. Lansberg’s high guard deflects Cyborg’s power punches, so Cyborg opts for another clinch on the cage instead. Lansberg reverses to the outside position, but Cyborg wraps her up in a bodylock and hurls her to the canvas. Cyborg postures up, lands a few punches and then stands over Lansberg, who is leaking a lot of blood from her nose. Cyborg connects with another half dozen punches as they enter the third minute of the round. Referee McCarthy is having a close look, standing over the fighters as Cyborg continues to batter her opponent. Lansberg doesn’t look to have much left here, just absorbing damage, and referee McCarthy mercifully stops the fight.
