The Octagon touches down in Abu Dhabi for the first annual installment of a five-year agreement that will feature a title fight atop each card.
In the main event, undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov (155) looks to defend his title for the second time when he takes on interim champion Dustin Poirier (155). The Russian is coming off of a fourth-round submission win over Conor McGregor in his first tile defense. “The Diamond,” meanwhile, won the interim belt back at UFC 236 when he defeated Max Holloway by decision. The co-main event sees a pivotal lightweight rematch as Edson Barboza (155) scraps with Paul Felder (155) in a rematch four years in the making.
The only fighter to miss weight was Sarah Moras, who weighed in at 138 pounds for her bantamweight bout with Liana Jojua. As of this writing, the fight is still scheduled to take place, and there is no word of the exact penalty Moras will face.
UFC 242, which airs live on pay-per-view at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT, also features another lightweight matchup between Islam Makhachev (155) taking on Davi Ramos (156). In the heavyweight division, Curtis Blaydes (251) meets Shamil Abdurakhimov (257). Opening up the main card is yet another lightweight tilt between Mairbek Taisumov (156) and Diego Ferreira (156).
