UFC 206 Update: Donald Cerrone vs. Matt Brown Likely for Toronto on Dec. 10

UFC 206 seems to be the landing spot for fighters whose bouts fell through this weekend.

Shortly after his proposed UFC 205 matchup with Kelvin Gastelum was canceled due to Gastelum badly missing weight, Donald Cerrone has verbally agreed to a bout against Matt Brown on Dec. 10 in Toronto. A previously proposed contest between Brown and Tarec Saffiedine set for UFC 207 will likely be scrapped.

Multiple outlets confirmed the pairing following an initial report from Fox Sports on Friday. Two days prior, a middleweight clash between Rashad Evans and Tim Kennedy initially set for UFC 205 was rebooked for UFC 206 after Evans had to withdraw due to an undisclosed medical issue. UFC 206 takes place at the Air Canada Centre and is headlined by a light heavyweight championship rematch between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson.

Cerrone, who will be paid his show money for UFC 205 after successfully making weight, has compiled a 3-0 record since moving from lightweight to welterweight this year. Thus far, “Cowboy” has earned finishes of Rick Story, Patrick Cote and Alex Oliveira at 170 pounds.

Brown, 35, has lost four of his last five Octagon appearances, including a first-round TKO defeat to Jake Ellenberger in his most recent outing at UFC 201. Prior to that slump, “The Immortal” won seven straight bouts in the promotion from February 2012 to May 2014.
