Iuri Alcantara ran circles around Brad Pickett.

The former Jungle Fight champion submitted Pickett with a first-round triangle choke in their featured bantamweight prelim at UFC 204 “Bisping vs. Henderson 2” on Saturday at Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. Alcantara (33-7, 8-4 UFC) drew the curtain 1:59 into round one.

Pickett (25-12, 5-7 UFC) never stood a chance. Alcantara, 36, floored him with a spinning back elbow and left hook before bludgeoning him with ground-and-pound. Elbows, forearm strikes and hammerfists were all on the menu. Alcantara then climbed to full mount, framed a triangle choke and transitioned to the armbar. Pickett defended, only to find himself hopelessly entangled in another triangle. It was an exquisite sequence from the Brazilian and netted the desired tapout.

Stasiak Armbar Taps Grant

M-1 Global veteran Damian Stasiak submitted “The Ultimate Fighter 18” finalist Davey Grant with an armbar in the third round of their undercard pairing at 135 pounds. His left arm bent at a grotesque angle, Grant (10-3, 1-2 UFC) conceded defeat 3:56 into round three.

Stasiak (10-3, 2-1 UFC) neutralized the Englishman with takedowns and top control. Grant enjoyed some success in the second round, as he rattled the Pole with a series of knees and punches to the head and body. Stasiak withstood the assault, dragged the fight deeper and made his move. They traded takedowns in the third round before Grant settled in top position. Stasiak isolated his arm from the bottom, threaded the armbar and forced the tapout after an extended struggle.

Stasiak, 26, has won seven of his last eight fights.

Edwards Choke Submits Tumenov

Leon Edwards submitted K Dojo Warrior Tribe rep Albert Tumenov with a third-round rear-naked choke in a preliminary welterweight tilt. Tumenov (17-4, 5-3 UFC) bowed out 3:01 into round three, as he suffered his second straight defeat.

Edwards (12-3, 4-2 UFC) executed a takedown in the first round, climbed to full mount and smothered “Einstein” with positional control. Tumenov rebounded in the second, where he fired off the smooth punching combinations for which he has become known and seemed to have the Jamaican-born Brit in real danger. However, his prosperity was short-lived. Edwards struck for a single-leg takedown in the third round, advanced to the back and snaked his arms underneath the chin for the fight-ending choke.

The 25-year-old Edwards has rattled off four wins over his past five appearances.

Newcomer Diakiese Smashes Sajewski

Former British Association of Mixed Martial Arts champion Marc Diakiese blew away Lukasz Sajewski with punches in the second round of their undercard scrap at 155 pounds. A replacement for the injured Reza Madadi, Sajewski (13-3, 0-3 UFC) wilted 4:40 into round two.

Diakiese (10-0, 1-0 UFC) waded through some troubled waters in the first round, where he was taken down and briefly mounted. However, the hard work took a toll on Sajewski, and by the start of the middle stanza, it was clear fatigue had taken a bite out of him. Diakiese patiently picked apart the Pole, pinned him to the fence and cut loose with an unending barrage of punches to force the stoppage.

Unbeaten Perry Zaps Roberts

Mike Perry disposed of Cage Warriors Fighting Championship veteran Danny Roberts with a third-round knee strike and follow-up punches in a preliminary welterweight battle. Roberts (13-2, 2-1 UFC) succumbed to blows 4:40 into round three, his seven-fight winning streak having run its course.

Perry’s light-switch power made the difference. Roberts made occasional inroads with inside leg kicks and efficient punching combinations, only to find his progress stymied by another concussive shot from the Flint, Michigan, native. Perry (9-0, 2-0 UFC) had him reeling in all three rounds. Late in the third, he cracked Roberts with a knee, leveled him with a right hand and pounced with heavy punches on the ground until he was unconscious.

Santos Edges Countryman Martins

Four-time Brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion Leonardo Santos ran his winning streak to four fights with a split decision over countryman Adriano Martins in a tepid three-round undercard clash at 155 pounds. All three cageside judges scored it 29-28: Maciej Motylewski for Martins, Jeff Mullen and Paul Sutherland for Santos.

Neither man established any semblance of superiority across the forgettable 15-minute encounter. Martins (28-8, 4-2 UFC) controlled the center of the cage but too often fought in single strikes. Santos (16-3-1, 5-0-1 UFC) focused on kicks to the inside of his lead leg and sneaky head kicks, surviving a third-round cut near his left eye that resulted from a Martins right hook.
