Trinaldo-Hallmann, Robertson-Zeferino Added to UFC Fight Night 28 in Belo Horizonte

Brazilian lightweight Francisco “Massaranduba” Trinaldo will welcome Piotr Hallmann to the Octagon in September at UFC Fight Night 28 “Teixeira vs. Bader.”

Combate.com first reported the matchup Monday, and Hallmann confirmed the booking shortly thereafter with a message on his Facebook page.

“It is true, I’ve been tabbed to make my UFC debut Sept. 4 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil against Francisco Massaranduba,” Hallmann wrote. “It is the culmination of five years of hard work, blood, sweat and tears for me and I’m happy to say I’m finally there.”

Before signing with the Zuffa, the 25-year-old Polish prospect was slated to compete Oct. 26 in his home country under the MMA Attack banner, as well as Dec. 14 in Slovenia against Deep champ Kazunori Yokota. Hallmann carries the momentum of a nine-fight winning streak into his UFC debut, having most recently earned a unanimous decision over Finland’s Juha-Pekka Vainikainen in April.

Trinaldo, 34, holds a 3-1 record since entering the UFC last year after a stint on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.” The former Jungle Fight champion is perfect so far in 2013, having submitted Mike Rio and C.J. Keith with arm-triangle chokes.

The UFC’s Brazilian branch also announced a welterweight contest for UFC Fight Night 28, with Kenny Robertson taking on Joao Zeferino. Robertson is just 1-3 in his UFC appearances and will try to get back on track after a decision loss to Sean Pierson at UFC 161. Zeferino moves down from 185 pounds for the bout after dropping his Octagon debut to Rafael Natal in May.
