‘TUF 14’ Finale Medical Suspensions: 5 Fighters Facing 6 Months Out

Five men were handed possible six-month medical suspensions following “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 14 finale on Saturday, including main event competitor Jason “Mayhem” Miller.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission emailed Sherdog.com the suspension information on Tuesday. Miller was defeated by rival coach Michael Bisping in the Dec. 3 live finale at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, succumbing to fatigue before succumbing to Bisping’s strikes in round three. Miller may have sustained a nasal fracture in the contest, according to the NSAC.

Though he emerged victorious in the main event, Bisping did not escape the confrontation unscathed. While the Wolfslair Academy representative took over in the second and third frames, it was Miller who dictated the fight in round one, pinning Bisping against the cage and landing multiple shots to the Brit’s head. Bisping has been suspended until Jan. 3 with no contact until Dec. 25 due to a hematoma which formed over his right eye.

Like Miller, Season 14 competitors Bryan Caraway, Louis Gaudinot, Stephen Bass and Diego Brandao were also slapped with potentially lengthy suspensions. Each could each be out until June 3 for various injuries sustained during their bouts. However, all five men may be cleared early by a physician after undergoing an examination.

Caraway suffered injuries to his left hand, left shoulder and right knee, while Gaudinot hurt his right hand in addition to taking severe punishment courtesy of Johnny Bedford. Though he became the Season 14 featherweight champion, Brandao sustained injuries to his left hand and jaw in the process of submitting Dennis Bermudez, who was suspended until Jan. 3 due to a left elbow injury. Bass was also slapped with a potential six-month suspension after going three hard rounds with Marcus Brimage, who will be out at least 30 days.
