One Fighting Championship lightweight titlist Shinya Aoki has received an opponent for his New Year’s Eve appearance under the Inoki Genome Federation banner.
Aoki will battle countryman Toshikatsu Harada at the Dec. 31 event, which takes place at Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2013 from Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo. The event is headlined by a heavyweight showdown between Kazuyuki Fujita and Satoshi Ishii and will feature both pro wrestling and MMA matches.
Aoki, 30, has won 11 of his last 12 fights, with his only loss in that span coming to Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez. “Tobikan Judan” captured the One FC lightweight title this past April by choking out Kotetsu Boku and then made a successful featherweight debut against Cody Stevens on Oct. 18.
A nine-year pro, Harada posted eight wins in nine outings from March 2010 to February 2013 but has gone 0-1-2 in his last three appearances, most recently submitting to a first-round armbar courtesy of Isamu Sugiuchi this past September.
