Security Guard Suing Conor McGregor For $95,000 Over August 2016 Can-Throwing Incident

Conor McGregor can't escape his rivalry with Nate Diaz. Now, the drama from their rematch is getting him sued.

On Sunday, The Blast was first to report that William Pegg, a security guard, was suing the Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight titlist for at least $95,000 for allegedly striking him with an energy drink can. The allegation stems from McGregor's now-infamous bottle and can throwing debacle with Diaz and his team on Aug. 16, 2016. The incident took place at the Copperfield Theater in Las Vegas during the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference to promote the McGregor-Diaz rematch.

Pegg contends he was hit in the back and left shoulder area by the can and incurred $5000 in medical expenses as a result. According to The Blast report, Pegg's asking figure of at least $95,000 is predicated on the idea that McGregor made a reported $15 million for the Diaz rematch, then dividing that sum by the 166 significant strikes Diaz landed by FightMetric count, plus the $5000 in medical expenses.

McGregor was fined $25,000 by the Nevada Athletic Commission for his role in the fracas and was ordered to complete 25 hours of community service, while Diaz was hit with a $15,000 fine and 15 hours of community service.

“The Notorious” last competed on Aug. 26 in the boxing ring, where he was knocked out in Round 10 by Floyd Mayweather in their “Money Fight” spectacular in Las Vegas.
