Samir Faiddine to Defend Flyweight Strap Against Luke Shanks at Cage Warriors 113 in March

Cage Warriors Fighting Championship has scheduled a flyweight title affair for its March 20 event in London.

On Thursday, the promotion announced via press release that Samir Faiddine (11-6) will be putting his flyweight belt on the line against Luke Shanks (6-1) at CW 113 in March. The bout, which has not been announced as to whether it will headline the event or not, will be part of a doubleheader series of events between the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Cage Warriors in the capital city of England that weekend.

Faiddine sprang an upset as a massive +450 underdog to take the flyweight belt from Sam Creasey in June by third-round knockout. The Frenchman was making his promotional debut coming off of a decision win over Adrianos Stokas at Cage Survivor 3 in April. Prior to these two wins, "Silverback" dropped three consecutive decisions including one with Absolute Championship Akhmat in January 2018. A well-rounded fighter that trains out of the MMA Factory in Paris alongside top UFC heavyweight contender Francis Ngannou, Faiddine holds three wins due to strikes, three by tapout, and five on the scorecards.

Shanks has won his last three dating back to early 2018, with two victories inside the CW organization and a third at an Almighty Fighting Championship event in Liverpool, England. "The Apocalypse" recently knocked out Pietro Menga at CW 107 in September to earn a title shot, and in the process scored the first knockout victory of his young career.

Additionally, Paddy Pimblett will be facing Donovan Desmae at lightweight at CW 113, putting together a bout that was scratched before CW 111 in November after Desmae suffered an injury. The organization also stated that multiple additional fighters on the roster would be competing at this event, including unbeaten Welshman Mason Jones, former middleweight champ James Webb and ex-title holder Creasey.

Of this event, CW President Graham Boylan stated, "This is one of those cards that everyone on the roster wants a part of. My phone has been blowing up with guys calling up asking for a spot on March 20th. When people look back on our biggest London shows of all time, this one will be part of the conversation, no question."
