Late Thursday night, MMA Junkie first reported that Ryan Hall has suffered an injury and has been forced to withdraw from his Aug. 29 scrap with Ricardo Lamas. The two were set to square off at UFC Fight Night 175, which will be held inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The promotion is currently seeking a replacement opponent for Lamas. The story has since been confirmed by multiple outlets.

Hall (8-1) has competed just twice since 2016, tapping B.J. Penn with a heel hook in 2018 and handling Darren Elkins in July 2019. His submission over Penn was the first that the former champ had ever suffered, while it was the second heel hook in UFC lightweight history at the time. Since dropping his pro debut in 2006 by decision, “The Wizard” has conjured eight consecutive victories, including four inside the Octagon. His UFC career started with his 2015 triumph over Artem Lobov to win Season 22 of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

Hall was previously booked to face Lamas in May, but the event was scuttled due to the coronavirus. Lamas (19-8) is still looking to right the ship following a first-round knockout in June 2019 to Calvin Kattar. Dating back the last three years, Lamas has only won a single time, over the aforementioned Elkins, while losing to Josh Emmett and Mirsad Bektic along the way. Throughout his career, the former title challenger has notched wins over the likes of Charles Oliveira, Cub Swanson and Diego Sanchez, to name a few.

UFC Fight Night 175 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Aug. 29, and it will be headlined by a three-round light heavyweight affair between Anthony Smith and Aleksandar Rakic. Additionally, Robbie Lawler and Neil Magny will lock horns at welterweight, while Magomed Ankalaev has his much-anticipated rematch with Ion Cutelaba.
