Ryan Ford will face Yushin Okami in a welterweight contest and Smealinho Rama will defend his heavyweight title against Blagoi Ivanov at WSOF 21 on June 5.
World Series of Fighting officials confirmed the bouts to Sherdog.com on Thursday. The two fights are expected to be announced tonight during the WSOF 18 telecast on NBC Sports Network.
The June 5 card will also take place at Edmonton Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta.
Ford, 32, has been out of action since he was finished via first-round submission by Jake Shields at WSOF 14. The loss snapped a six-fight winning streak. After the fight, it was revealed that “The Real Deal” fought Shields with a broken arm. Ford was then subsequently suspended for six months by the Edmonton Combative Sports Commission.
Okami, 33, is also coming off a loss. The former Ultimate Fighting Championship competitor was finished in the fourth round by David Branch at WSOF 15. The loss came after an impressive promotional debut for the Las Vegas-based promotion, when Okami finished Svetlozar Savov via arm-triangle choke.
In heavyweight action, Rama will defend his heavyweight title for the first time since defeating Derrick Mehmen via first-round technical knockout at WSOF 14. He will meet Bellator MMA veteran Ivanov, who most recently suffered the first loss of his professional career, a Bellator 120 defeat to Alexander Volkov.
